So will One Direction miss out on no.1? I thought they'd be a shoe in.
btw this is a good idea for a thread, It would be good to keep it going and add to it whenever an XF act releases also adding sales figures when available. |

Apparently on Wednesday We Found Love by Rihanna was only 100 sales behond One Direction so I think the figures will be really close.

Good for Rihanna she is unbeatable at the moment. Surprised at One Direction slipping to 6 already on itunes. Their debut single was huge. The X-factor class of 2010 has underperformed compared to the 2008 finalists.

There will be huge sales for One Direction almost double Chers sales that peaked at 55k in the first week. Good for them. Chers album and singles have no longevity.

If you look at Cher's sales figures, SJ has sold 200k to date, WUL sold 140k so far and her album has sold 80k in 2 weeks. The fact is in the current climate, Cher, Matt, 1D and Rebecca all appear to be doing quite well for themselves. It doesn't fit certain peoples agendas so they try and call whichever act they dislike a flop but It's simply not the case. |

That's a misconception you get on this forum because people seem to be totally obsessed with 1st week sales.

Rhianna is 13000 units ahead of 1D but they are both going to do well over 100k units this week, which in the current market is amazing sales.

The Music Week report states One Direction are 13,000 behind Rihanna now, increasing the gap massively. So unless Rebecca Ferguson can do it which she well might or there is a MASSIVE rally by One Direction fans, it looks like none of the 2010 class will have a number 1 album which is quite surprising and I wonder what odds you would have got on it. One Direction are unfortunate to be releasing against an artist at the top of their game as clearly any other week they would have been number 1 but so could Matt on a different week so.
From the report you can work out the sales: States Now 80 is on 134,000 sales, 45,000 ahead of Rihanna so means Rihanna is on 89k One Direction are 13,000 behind Rihanna so are on 76,000 Rihanna has sold another 31,000 One Direction just another 24,000 so slowing down already but both on course for well over 100k which definitely shouldn't be sniffed at in this market! |
