Yep, they are the only X Factor act in the Radio 1 playlist this week!

And Radio 2 has only Olly's 'Dance With me tonight' (A List).

Having steadily climbed the iTunes singles chart so far this week having been outside the top 100 last week, the album version of Cher Lloyd - Want U Back is now at #41.

Once radio play kicks in (which should be this week or next week), it's not outlandish to think it could climb further and make the official top 40 next week, several weeks before the single version's official release which is said to be 26th February.

That's great but the only problem is that when the single is actually released in a months time that It might not chart very high as people have already bought it by then.

Yes, sorry, it's because it is new and I forgot to update my database

It's strange that they released the video so much ahead of the song, but I would think that they will make available the version featuring Astro at some point, likely as the single.

Yeah I agree, it'll probably be a slow-burner since the single won't be released 'til the end of February, which annoys me because if I were Syco, I'd take any opportunity I could get to get Cher a #1/high-charting song. I can understand if Syco are prioritising acts like 1D over Cher (admittedly it's most logical) but I don't see why that should mean that Cher should wait so long to release a single. I swear that when it comes to Syco, unless you're teacher's pet like 1D you get screwed over.

I feel exactly the same about the release date of Rebecca's 2nd single. It should be sooner.

It makes sense to delay a single when the album has not been released to build pre-orders but once the album has already been released and the songs can be cherry-picked from ITunes then It doesn't make much sense to delay

Am I the only one who finds it interesting that both Cher Lloyd - Want U Back and 1D - One Thing are both released in about a month, and yet Want U Back is higher up in the chart so far? Especially with Radio 1 playing One Thing a bit already, practically brown-nosing them a fair bit and not giving WUB not much of a look-in? Not hatin' by any means but it seems odd to me.

Then again, 1D have sold many more albums than Cher so far so they must be rolling in it.

Definitely good to see Sticks + Stones having moved up 2 places and having some longevity in the chart now, albeit at a lower price point.

Yet again Cher isn't getting good radio support, she's ahead of OD in the midweeks and they are play-listed and she's not. People talk about Cher being heavily promoted but she seems to get very little airplay, If it wasn't for Youtube no one would hear her singles. Hopefully Radio 1 will add her next week.

Oh come on. They both moved up on itunes after their videos were released. Cher's has taken more time to move up as it was released before 1D's. I think One Thing has moved up very quickly considering the video was only released a few days ago.

I think they're both doing well though, but i wouldn't be too quick to jump on the mine is higher than yours bandwagon.

ETA: Still a long way to go.

1D also doing a tour at the moment and think that would help shift sales. Doesn't Cher start one soon so that will help her too.

I was never a teacher's pet at school so nice to be a fan of one

I suspect it's because her release date is further away also is not the single in the charts at the mo the album track not the one due for release with astro I assume this is the one that will be play listed...anyway she is doing well with this track and it helped her album as well

how will that work String?

haven't their sales both jumped the gun a bit too much for that to happen. I'd have thought it'd be difficult for either to climb that high in 4 or 5 weeks time. Or am i missing summat?

good points outofetc. I presume now it's top 40, or this w'end anyhow, they'll have to play this version for a while (poor astro) whether they want to or not

Well the singles haven't been released officially. They've charted on downloads only from the albums.
Don't know if Cher will be releasing physical copies of the single, I know 1D are and that will go towards the final sales figures and chart placement.

ETA in Cher's case, I'm guessing the version in the charts will not be the official single... right? People will download the official one and should all go towards final sales. (Don't know if that makes sense)

Yeah One Thing did rise by quite a bit tbf (don't think it was even in the top 100 last Sunday) so maybe it's selling really fast atm, may even be higher than Cher by Sunday so I'll follow your recommendation and not hop on that bandwagon. I was just making observations, that's all.

And like I say, I don't greatly dislike them or anything, One Thing seems to me like it's cut from the same cloth as WMYB but it's one damn effective cloth so can't fault them too much.

Let's not have a flame war please, I see enough of that on my Twitter feed and it's often pretty tedious.
