guys, I wouldnt worry about the cher and r1 thing. They hated alexandra and even A playlisted JLS. They seem to be funny with XF acts at times. But they're playing elephant a fair bit now. No idea why. I wish r1 would play Rebecca and matt, because if they can A playlist EVERY adele single, then they should play rebecca and matt. Shame starlight didnt get much hype, I loved it.

I wouldn't be surprised if Radio 1 do playlist Too Good To Lose, that should fit in better with the rest of their playlist, being upbeat and all.

Want U Back was actually played on Tom Deacon's Radio 1 show tonight, and that's often a sign that a song will move up to the main Radio 1 playlist eventually, as happened with One Thing. I think Want U Back just had to prove that it was popular enough to get a decent chart position before it had a chance of making their playlist (beating 1D was a bonus lol), whereas 1D got it handed to 'em on a plate with One Thing.

I am enjoying this 1D/Cher playful rivalry we have going on tbh.

Even the Radio 2 list would do for me.

Yeah that may be more likely actually, though Radio 2 has apparently served Matt well these past few months in terms of keeping album sales going so it would still be good for her.

Matt's new single Amazing is Radio 2 Record of the Week next week. So hopefully will keep the album ticking over.

i don't think it's that, it's more about the release date which is yrs away as we know...1D's is sooner so that's probly why it was played sooner. They do play Cher they just don't give her the full 1D

it's weird how the 2 songs are glued together though, what does that say, if anything?

That their fanbases are converging - soon you will not be able to tell them apart.

I call coincidence!

Then again if their fanbases are converging...Sticks + Stones may go platinum a lot faster than we thought.

Interesting blurb from Music Week that mentions all 4 2010 XF finalists and their total current sales.

Cher Lloyd's first two singles peaked at their debut positions - Swagger Jagger at number one, and follow-up With Ur Love (feat. Mike Posner) at number four - but third single Want U Back improves 56-26 (9,730 sales) on its second week on the list, and helps to stabilise parent album Sticks & Stones, which moves 30-28 (5,613 sales). Meanwhile, her fellow X Factor season seven (2010) graduates One Direction register the third Top 40 hit from their debut album, Up All Night. After reaching number one with debut single What Makes You Beautiful, and number three with Gotta Be You, they debut at number 28 (9,446 sales) with One Thing.

One Direction's album has sold significantly more than season seven winner Matt Cardle's debut set, Letters, and even Lloyd is catching up. Sales to midnight on Saturday are as follows: Up All Night – 499,850, Letters – 245,271 and Sticks & Stones – 198,199. Like Lloyd and One Direction, Cardle reached number one with his debut single (When We Collide) but had to settle for sixth place with second single Run For Your Life, and came a real cropper with third single Starlight, which limped to number 185 on the sales tally, despite getting enough exposure to reach number 23 on the radio airplay chart. A fourth 2010 X Factor contestant, Rebecca Ferguson, has also sold more albums than Cardle. Despite thus far taking only one single - the number 10 hit Nothing Is Real But Love - from her debut album, Heaven, the set has sold 405,932 copies in seven weeks

It could be an error but they should be right coming from Music Week, Here's a link to the article:

Thanks. I suppose that the MW numbers are correct!

Anyway, good news for Cher and 1D, their new singles have got momentum!

The figures that we get from sites like buzzjack and Haven are only estimates but are usually pretty close to the actual sales. The ones released by MW are accurate.

I think 499,850 was the final sales figure for 2011.

It was 503,200 as of last week.

Buzzjack had 479000 for 2011 sales, and 24200 for 2012, and so total 503,200, but they do state that they give estimations, although some are the real figures when they get them.

But they are still in the top 20, so surely sales must be over 500k by now?
How much have albums (in general) sold in the last couple of weeks?
