Oh - thought 1D were on Capital. Not that I listen. Heart, Capital's sister station had Matt do the Regent Street Xmas light switch on and he recently opened their new Cambridge studios. He had lovely supportive tweets from lots of their DJs after both events, but for all that they won't put him on their playlist. I just hope he was paid a lot for both gigs.

I just have to be happy that Radio 2 have virtually adopted Matt - he definitely has some big supporters there.

I thought all the big stations were playing 1d. I think it's bad that they use them on there home page and on twitter frequently if they are not actually playing them.

They tweeted this a few minutes ago.

Capital FM @CapitalOfficial
Hmmm, wonder what 1D are doing for Valentine's Day?

Here's a list of stations that play 1D
http://comparemyradio.com/artists/One_Direction
So they are played by Capital radio, but it seems that it is mostly WMYB, and One Thing doesn't seem to be receiving much love from them

Yep they are not playing One Thing, but R1 are. Capital still favour TW for obvious reasons.

Not sure what this is about? The boys are in Paris on Valentine's Day.

I think they post tweets like that just to get the fans excited and retweeting there tweets to get Capital buzzing on twitter. They tweet about 1d an awful lot and TW.

Really don't think it makes any difference if Capital play them or not. Radio 1 are more influential when it comes to Single and as we have recently found out, album sales.

Chi, with your obvious knowledge of these things, what does being on the C List actually mean in reality. Thanks

Disappointing for a Cher fan, she was even at radio1 last night for the review show and they have still not playlisted WUB. Now It's falling down the charts ahead of It's release. Considering that most of her fans already have the album, this single really needed to appeal outside her fan group to the wider audience. Without much radio play that looks unlikely to happen now.

Hi Manderley - C list means that she will get about 5 plays next week. B list is 10 plays and A list about 20 plays. The playlist policy is explained at the bottom of this page.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio2/music-events/playlist/

Marcus is doing well - he is B list at radio 2 and on both the Capital & Heart playlists.

I have no idea why Cher isn't getting airplay - she has so many fans.

You'd think so but...well I think I'll just quote my post in the Cher AT just now:

Of course there's no direct insult but it isn't hard to read between the lines.

I'm starting to think this isn't just about 'haterz' anymore. I'm getting the impression there's generally a massive anti-Cher sentiment in the UK, judging by not only this tweet, but replies to it from others. If a Radio 1 DJ is indirectly knocking Cher like this then that gives it away basically. It's like she's now the UK equivalent of Justin Bieber, which is unfortunate. Radio 1 are unlikely to change their stance until Cher matures her sound imo. ”

The most important thing to pick out there is the anti-Cher sentiment that I feel is rife atm, most people probably see her as a joke. Having fans is only worth so much, you also have to be able to appeal to people outside your fanbase to an extent, which Cher just doesn't seem to be doing atm. It's also preferable to not have radio DJs indirectly slagging you off on Twitter where they can say what they really think. Either way, if Radio 1 listeners don't wanna hear it then Radio 1 are unlikely to play it - that appears to be their stance on pop music.

I don't know what to make of it all. I really thought Cher was getting great reviews and a lot less hate and radio one have that Cher, Listen and Care thing going on (about bullying) I know it's not directly about Cher but at least using her name is keeping her profile up.

What's happening with the Astro song and the USA release? Hopefully that will do well over there *fingers crossed*
