Oh I thought B sides were added to the A side for the chart position but obviously not

I think it is added if it's a remix or another version of the same song.

my understanding is that if you by a CD single it is a sale for the lead single the B side is a bonus..same with the single bundle on I- tunes...but if you buy only the "b" side from i tunes and its not a remix it charts in its own right..I assume that 1d fans who have already have "one thing" have bought the "b" side only being a new song not on the album

Only estimations. The last sales figures from Music Week were 405932 for week ending 21 Jan, but I think that it is possible to estimate reasonably accurately because the overall sales are so low that the variations between chart positions are very small.

Heaven was:
#34 on 28 jan, with the #35 selling 4300 copies, so 4500 etsimate for Heaven.
#28 on 04 Feb, and #30 sold 4,500 poeis, #33 4200 copies, so 4800 estimate.
#16 on 11 Feb, with #9 selling 10300 copies and #19 700 copies so 7500 estimate
#10 last week with 12558 sales , making a total of around 435300, more or less 1000, I think.

Shouldn't you be more concerned about the fact that Cher's single has not done as well as you hoped? also her album is still out of the top 40, but hey ho if you're more concerned about Brit winners, then carry on.

ETA: 1D's focus now is more international, so not bothered about the UK charts at the moment, as long as the album is doing well in the charts, we're happy.

and to quote another 1D fan on a diff thread "Yes, The Wanted got a boost from Glee last night. Also, the song has been on US radio since last September and is being played on roughly 150 US Top 40 radio stations.

So DUH, of course the song is doing well"

substitute Glee for DOI and we have the same situation with One Thing. It's no use claiming promo doesn't make a diff, we all saw One Thing jump up after it's tv slot...before which it was joined to the hip with WUB.

promo matters, 1D get thrown at the country until it submits, Cher has to survive on internet buzz and hard graft alone...and in the circumstances it's not unfair to say One Thing hasn't done great either
