I have no problem with JLS, I like the guys and supported them when they were on the X Factor.
For me, it started well for them, but they haven't progressed since their first album. The problem they face now is the shrinking album/singles sales. What most artists do in situations like this, is to branch out into other markets.
Now they've tried America, it didn't work. I know they have plans to try again on the back of the 1D and The Wanted success, but I still believe they need a complete change in sound. Apart from that the market they will be going for is very tough, will they be taken seriously a UK RnB group?

1D are good at what they do, they are a complete package and I believe what the X Factor is really about. It's ok if you don't like them though, I don't expect everyone to get it.

My opinion of course.

Come on now, let's get real, how much of 1D's success is due to their actual talents? Less than 10% I'd say. They can sell millions of albums with them just standing there with their mouths open.

Well of course they've been around longer and have 3 albums to their name.

But I think they need to up their game musically for album 4.

I think they're keen to get to the 'Greatest Hits' and be the first X Factor act to do so.

I do think JLS need to up their game. Every summer they release a great summer single. Great in a sense that it's catchy and appropriate for the season. Then, in the fall they release a ballad single and album. I guess the label thinks that the ballad will sell the album, but I just think it's not working. Didn't work for JLS and One Direction this year.

Uptempo singles are okay back to back, as long as they are different enough from each other. I also feel JLS' singles are a bit bland, I miss some RnB vibe that was on their first album.

Ah I can remember the hooha a couple of years back about their miming on their tours. Of course all their fans defended them by saying they couldn't sing and do heavy dance routines at the same time

But as you say it is all opinion I prefer the 1D boy's more natural moves than the choreographed dance moves BUT I still like JLS and hope they can restore their career to previous levels.

JLS sold more of their first album in the UK than 1D, but 1D are killing it in the US.

Well I'm not surprised at 1D's success either tbh. Girls all over the world all fancy them, it's really hard NOT to be successful . But the difference in sales (at least in UK) must have told us something. Are people liking you because of your good music, or because they just fancy you and would buy anything that's about you?

i'm sure they are... but the fact that they tried it out across the pond indicates that even they know there is more out there...

i like JLS, they are friends with the boys and i hope they continue to evolve to keep their fanbase supporting them...
