Cher's single has fallen to #68 and #98 on itunes so it is possible that it is not in the midweeks top 40.

Why is Will Young included in an X Factor chart thread?

Must say it shows just how well he's doing being out longer than all other artists bar Jessie J, who has had a performance.

Pop Idol was the X Factor ancestor, so a close relative

Also as he is, let's say more a Radio Two type artist than most X Factor acts, I think that he is a good benchmark for artists like Matt or Rebecca.

Overall, very high album sales this week, up 18.67% week-on-week, on top of the 40% week-on-week increase last week.

As a comparison, the #10 was selling 10k-20k in Setember/October, and the #30 5-10k, compared to 46k and 16k, so huge increase across the board.

As a non X Factor news, Adele's 21 has overtaken Amy Winehouse's Back To Black to be crowned the UK's biggest-selling album of this Century with 3,418,131 unit sold. http://www.musicweek.com/story.asp?s...de=1047727&c=1

So despite Matt having stronger opening week sales, Cher and Matt both sold roughly the same amount of 125k in their 1st month worth of album sales.

It's expected, the sales are inflated at this time of the year. Matt was #19 on week 4, but with much lower sales.

There are advantages in releasing closer to Christmas, although with strong ongoing sales, earlier releases can substantially benefit from the Christmas boom (ei. Ed Sheeran, Noel Gallagher or even Will Young who released in August but is still at #24).

Charts will be really interesting tomorrow. Can't see Buble selling anything less than another 100k Olly who sold 148k last week probably won't experience too much of a drop off based on One Direction selling 138k week 1 and another 80k in the second week, last year he kept above 100k for 3/4 consecutive weeks and could do again.

Then there's Rihanna who is still expected to selling highly but I think along with Amy, Rebecca's album plus last week's top 3 will be the top 5 in any order. Amy's album has the boost of the 3.99 mp3 deal so I expect it to be ahead of Rebecca. I think the first mids might be:
1. Amy
2. Buble (Buble could be 1 put his sales are usually biggest near the end of the week)
3. Olly
4. Rebecca
5. Rihanna

With the positions changing by the end of the week but all enjoying the big increase in sales the album charts are experiencing. Rebecca should enjoy some excellent sales this week, seeing the album ad a lot, at first I didn't think she could but if Olly can get 148k last week, I can see Rebecca pushing 100k. Olly's first mids were 50k something I think, can see Rebecca definitely over 30k first mids.

I passed 2 people in Sainsburys today with Rebecca's album in their trolley. I think she will do well

Ooh almost right, was tempted to put Rebecca above Olly too..

Today's mids:

1.Amy
2. Bublè
3. Rebecca
4. Olly

Sure Chi will update the actual facts n figures but Amy is way out in front, Rebecca is close to the Bublè but comfortably ahead of Olly so far

Any news about Matt's new single?
There was two new remixes released this week-end, but none of them are high enough in the iTunes chart to be included in the midweeks that feature the top 40.

Current iTunes positions for Matt's singles:

#382 - Starlight
#591 - Run for Your Life
#779 - Starlight (The Alias Remix Edit)
#875 - When We Collide

I'm interested to see who will leave the album chart first out of Matt and Cher. If Sticks + Stones can't even last 5 weeks in the chart that'll be a great shame...
