Usually R1 add new songs to the C list, and they make they way up (or not) in the following weeks.”

Not true some songs go straight to B list and a rare few straight to A ist

Please browse this record of the R1 playlists and please let me know how many songs have been added straight to the B list in the last few months.

1D's What makes you beautiful went straight into B list and A list the following week. Some do.

As string said 1D WMYB went straight to B list and Rihanna went straight to A list . Some don't even move off the C list before getting dropped. And moves like jagger didn't even make the play list yet charted at number 2 for weeks. I was just trying to point out that it is not the case of records going into the C list then B list then A list. It isn't as straight forward as that

Hell how many lists are there and how does it work then I thought a song got released and that was it, seems I was mistaken then, is this about air play?

Yes, there are a few that go straight to their B or A list, but I said usually, meaning most of the time, not all the time. Going back through the list, 1D and Rihanna are the only two since mid August, and they add 7 or 8 new songs every week!

And I agree that some songs don't move up from the C list, but this is what I said originally!

So LM are 10k down on last weeks midweek sales? We can probably see them as pretty close to last weeks total sales then; within about 30k of it.

Last week, they had sold 68.8k reported on the Tuesday midweeks, so up to Monday evening. This is the Wednesday midweeks, for sales up to Tuesday evening.
They sold 38k up to Monday evening, so 17k yesterday. If they keep at the same pace for the rest of the week, by Saturday the tally will be 55k+68k, 123k.

Ah I see, I got confused by last weeks. Still not too bad if they hold say 120k.

Quote:
“The track, which was written by Royal Wedding composer Paul Mealor, has sold nearly 390,000 copies since going on sale on Sunday (December 18). ‘Wherever You Are’ has overtaken LMFAO’s ‘Sexy And I Know It’ to enter the Official Top 40 singles of 2011 so far. The definitive end of year charts will be published on www.theofficialcharts.com in the New Year.

In related news, the Official Charts Company can reveal that X Factor winners Little Mix’s ‘Cannonball’ and Lou Monte’s ‘Dominick The Donkey’ are still holding firm at Number 2 and 3, respectively, while YouTube sensation Alex Day (Number 4) increases his lead over Coldplay, with ‘Forever Yours’ outselling the British stadium rockers’ ‘Paradise’ by more than 13,000 copies”

I actually though MW would have higher sales due to all the hype about the 'biggest pre order sales' etc. Still great sales though.

So LM are nearly at 300K?

I believe that Rebecca has now passed the 300,000 mark for sales. Do you know if that is correct?

So that's Olly past the 500k sales mark (and there'll be another 30-40k to add for the last couple of days of this week) He should be about 120k ahead of where he was this time last year with his debut album, so I don't think there's much doubt that this second album will outsell his first.

Has any other XF act managed to sell more second time around?

Edit - just remembered Joe (I forget him so easily )

I don't think you can compare Joe with Olly as Joe changed direction and his album came off the back of another reality show and with a different label.

I don't think any other x factor has surpassed their debut album in sales. Well done Olly
