Really happy with how 1D both single and album are performing. What a year.

I was curious as to how well JLS Jukebox has sold so far - had to browse the Buzzjack forum, but they have sold 334.5, so that's great for a third album

The upcoming Arena tour will give it a boost

Yep, they have done well, so consistent for an XF act

So Cher's has climbed back above Matt's after dropping out of the Top 40.

Having finally bought and listened to 'Sticks and Stones,' it would not surprise me if she stays in the charts for a while with it and outsells him over time. Except for SJ the album is amazingly good.

If the Coldplay single has been knocking around for 8 or 10 weeks and was still selling 35k a week ago, then surely it's well outsold LM over the whole of the release period???

You mean due to olly being part of the extra factor? I don't think is the same as Joe's second album is result of his winning pop star to opera star.

Well his and Chers albums are both under £4 on itunes so not surprised they have both move up places this week.

I thought people were saying that LM would go back to no1 on the singles chart after the charity single got xmas NO1 but instead it's between 2 singles that have both been out for over a month (Coldplay 13 weeks)

You say that as if discounting is unusual? Some albums like Coldplay and Noel Gallagher were discounted heavily in their first 2 weeks and it certainly helped propel their sales. Matt's album went 10 weeks without discounting so its actually past time. The point is surely that enough people are still buying Cher and Matt to push them back into the top 30 now the Christmas stuff is clearing, even though they've been out for a while (in Matts case 12 weeks). Will Young's doing really brilliantly too - proving that album has legs (not literal legs btw before anyone starts.).

I don't think any other x factor has surpassed their debut album in sales. Well done Olly”

As for some reason Will Young is included in this thread then his 2nd and 3rd albums sold more than his debut

From Now On almost 900k

Friday's Child almost 1.8m

Keep On just over 1m

I have to say it has been very amusing to discover this thread at this point and to read through and see snide comments from devout fans of Matt Cardle about how badly Rebecca will sell.

20/30 thousand more in two weeks than Matt in 9 is quite frankly embarrassing.
Matt has not done well.

But I have been chided by Rebecca fans for daring to suggest she needs a killer single on other threads so it isn't just Matt fans. I am not a devout Matt fan BTW!

She does need a killer single.

I also wasn't thinking of you when writing my post.

I thought the first single was good better than Ollie or Matt but, perhaps, not a killer!

Actually, most of us have been very happy for Rebecca and her excellent sales? Its a great album at it deserves it

Matt has been in the Top 40 since its release which is 11 or 12 weeks and has sold over 200k, which is very good in the current sales climate. Yes its not as much as Rebecca or 1D, but they have just sold excellently well

Sweet.
Number 16 biggest selling album of the year as well.

Just noticed there are only 6 British acts on that list. (Not sure about Christina Perri, where is she from?)

She is American. Her success does seem to be related to the US version of Strictly!

Most hyped marketable act with the best promo and radio support. It has nothing to do with talent. I'm no fan of Matt or Rebecca but both are 100 times more talented than Cowell's teeny boppers who have no chance of longevity in the music business.

Well in terms of under-performing sales-wise there's certainly an act who's the elephant in the room at this point, but if you wanna focus on Matt you're more than welcome to.

Though I guess going by X Factor history, less than 200k isn't the worst we've seen for a fourth-placer, and she's definitely not hit her peak yet, in fact she's unfortunately ended up in a trough if anything, though this year I reckon she can break out of it.

I don't think she done that bad to be honest. She's pretty much matched Matt's album sales, she currently on over 180k and will probably hit 200k in roughly the same amount of time it took him to do so. Plus she has sold 400k singles at this point.
