Let's face it SRV was a true legend of a guitar player who deserves more recognition. So, let's all raise a glass and a fender strat to one hell of a musician.

Does anyone here like good music played well? I find it very hard to believe there are no other Stevie Ray Vaughan fans on here.

I saw him at reading festival in 1983. Wonderful. He wasnt really well known here at the time, but when he started playing, everyone stopped and listened and he got one of the best receptions of the festival. A brilliant guitarist.

I was there in 1983 as well, still makes my hairs stand on my neck thinking about it. From what I remember the arena went from 1/4 full to completely full in the space of one song!

Amazing afternoon.

I had tickets to see him @ Hammersmith Odeon, as it was then, sadly it was for the week after he died. I'll always be glad I saw him in his prime though.

I was only born in 83 so I never got to see him live which is a shame. I can't think of anyone at the moment in the same class as him, apart from maybe Joe Bonamassa.

Wow, that's incredible you both got to see him live. That's definitely an experience to treasure. He was and is a true legend.

There was a music show called "Night Music" that my dad recorded on VHS. It was hosted by David Sanborn and would feature a wide variety of genres on a single show. Anyway, there's a great episode with SRV and the Night Music band. Amazing guitarist. Honestly my musical tastes tend to run more toward pop and indie rock, but there's just something about SRV's playing that gets me!
