BT v Sky phone line

Can anyone tell me if there is much dIfference between BT and Sky for line rental regarding faults,service or reliability?

the actual line is taken care of by BT openreach

BT retail and Sky both have to pass on problems to them.

BT retail and Sky both have to pass on problems to them.
This is true to a point, but if you are a Sky MPF customer the 'dialtone' is provided by Sky network (not resold BT dialtone) so any problem that is an 'exchange' problem say for arguments sake ,you get ringtone no reply when calling one particular number from your landline, but you know they are in,but all other calls are OK, that would have nothing to do with BT/OR and would be for Sky to investigate, I couldnt comment on the relative reliability of Sky telephone network compared to BT's but an advantage they have is even if the problem is with Sky they can always blame BT, obviously this cannot be done the otherway around....
