Took him to the vets on Tuesday for his annual flu jab and check up.Everything was ok until he got home.For some reason he walks around in a circle 3-4 times before moving on.He occasionally in the past as done this before he lies down but never done it before to continue walking.Apart from that he is ok in himself,playing and eating normally.
Anyone any idea whats up with him.

Unfortunately there are no "nice" answers to this (google "cat circling" if you want to).

It could be a pure coincidence and he just has a temporary ear problem, or it may be that the stress of the vet visit, has unsettled him and hopefully not brought on something more serious.

Hopefully if you can give him a little more attention / fuss over the next few days than usual he may settle down again.

wow 17 is a great age for a cat

Did they give him a check up? Stick something in his ear?

Most of my cats have lived to around 19 years old. 2 of them showed clear signs of dementia when they were around 17. I first noticed it when one of them swaggered across the floor like she'd downed 10 pints, used to chatter to the wall and when she sat she rocked. The other one used to chase "nothing" on the carpet for ages, also rocked and she'd be staring into space for ages then just start meowing to herself.

After taking them to the vet they confirmed that cats can get dementia.

We took the cat to the vet and not good news. The vet is 99% certain that he has a tumour in his brain.We had blood tests taken which should be back on Monday,to rule anything else out.The vet thinks that the tumour as been bleeding and caused an infection in his ear that makes him circle.Apparantly he his a ticking time bomb.

Oh dear it is a sad board this morning, all these lovely puss cats, either gone from us or very poorly
