Rewatching the series I do think Aaron is as good as we thought, I actually really like this cast as a whole. Of course I think there could be improvements, but I think the producers did a good job with who they chose to put into the house.

In regard to putting Aaron into an Ultimate BB house. I think it would depend on the dynamics, how long after his original season this UBB was, and what the producers threw at them. Hopefully, he'd have learned not to withdraw so much which was one of the big criticisms always aimed at him.

Looking at the US All Star season, those that were from the more recent seasons had a ton of support to get into the house and in the America's Choice votes. Though it was a bit more spread out in the UBB series where the top finishers were Brian, Nikki, and Chantelle, but they all had strong fanbases before going in. I think Aaron has a passionate fanbase which would probably carry him far.
