I don't know much about One Direction but I like their songs, and yes Liam always looks moody, probably not so much now but on the show yes (still moody looking, and why has he tried to copy Harry's hair?). You must remember that most people aren't going to stalk them and try and get a sniff of their boxers but make their decision on first appearances; and the way I described them above are the first appearances they give off. Harry is the main guy, the average person won't even know the name of the other two.

Liam hasn't tried to copy Harry's hair, that's his natural hair.

I don't stalk them either, but those descriptions are certainly not the first impressions I got from them. I like Liam and Niall because, IMO, they have the best voices. I'm am no fan of the other three, but I would never say they don't have personalities. What does that even mean, how can a person not have a personality - you may be quiet or shy, but it's still a personality.

One Direction are being pimped to the max by Simon Cowell and their record label. These boys have the potential to go worldwide and Cowell saw it right at the beginning and can see it even more so right now.

They have the perfect mix of likeability, cuteness and a cracking debut song in WMYB (the best selling song of the yeaR, and the ALL-TIME best-selling pre-sale Sony Records song ever in the UK).

I'm not a fan of their second song, but the crowds that gather to see them at whatever radio, tv book signing appearances are just massive.

One Direction are already massive, and are being marketed in the perfect way in which to make them even more so. They are being directly targeted at the lucrative US market and stand a very good chance of cracking it over there.

I would agree with you except Simon has ensured they have come out with a cracking debut song which has broken the record for the most pre orders in Sony's history. I have also heard the album and it is an excellent debut album. Watch the stars for reviews when it is officially out.

IMO they have been marketed for their demograph and that isn't way over the top but the way forward for boy bands. Their fan base lap up all the merchandise. Whether they have longetevity or not isn't up to Simon but their fan base and only time will tell if they are in it for the long haul or have moved onto the next big thing

I really don't know if they will crack the US but they have Cowell firmly in their camp and happy to throw money at the project, which shouldn't be discounted. JLS didn't really have this. I certainly think they have a good chance.

That said BTR are hardly superstars over there - they sold 500k copies of their debut album despite a TV show - so supporting them isn't like supporting Beiber.

It will be interesting to watch over the next year or so to see just how much power Cowell really has, but if any UK boyband can do it, it will be 1D.

1D are not doing what JLS did, which was just to release a single, which didn't do well. They are touring with an establshed group. Thats a better way to approach the market.

Not just. Simon knows very well what he is doing. He's been in the business long enough and he knows if you shove an act down peoples throat as excessive as he does with OD, they tire of it very quickly. The already weaker selling second single (I can't get over it, it's just their second singles all this hype and frenzy after they only released one song, all orchestrated by the media/Simon and people eat it right up) is prove of that.
OD will probably be around for a bit longer but I doubt they will still be a big deal next year this time around.
