I don't know much about One Direction but I like their songs, and yes Liam always looks moody, probably not so much now but on the show yes (still moody looking, and why has he tried to copy Harry's hair?). You must remember that most people aren't going to stalk them and try and get a sniff of their boxers but make their decision on first appearances; and the way I described them above are the first appearances they give off. Harry is the main guy, the average person won't even know the name of the other two.

I don't stalk them either, but those descriptions are certainly not the first impressions I got from them. I like Liam and Niall because, IMO, they have the best voices. I'm am no fan of the other three, but I would never say they don't have personalities. What does that even mean, how can a person not have a personality - you may be quiet or shy, but it's still a personality.

I think they will have a lot of success in the U.K. for a couple of years, but I don't think they will "crack" the U.S.

And Louis is in no way Mentally Unstable, That is a cruel thing to say, Just cos he wanted Frankie to win (Not that i like frankie, In fact i hate him) doesnt give you the right to go around saying he is mentally unstable? Thats honestly just unfair and pretty rude. |

One Direction are being pimped to the max by Simon Cowell and their record label. These boys have the potential to go worldwide and Cowell saw it right at the beginning and can see it even more so right now.
They have the perfect mix of likeability, cuteness and a cracking debut song in WMYB (the best selling song of the yeaR, and the ALL-TIME best-selling pre-sale Sony Records song ever in the UK). I'm not a fan of their second song, but the crowds that gather to see them at whatever radio, tv book signing appearances are just massive. One Direction are already massive, and are being marketed in the perfect way in which to make them even more so. They are being directly targeted at the lucrative US market and stand a very good chance of cracking it over there. |

Actually they are marketed way over the top.
Which is why a song that doesn't go to number one is regarded as massive flop. Simon doesn't believe in them either. Books, documentaries, apparently a film in the making, tons of merchandise, dolls - all that with barely two songs out? That's not marketing for the long run that is squeezing as much money as possible out of them as quickly as possible while the public is interested. |

IMO they have been marketed for their demograph and that isn't way over the top but the way forward for boy bands. Their fan base lap up all the merchandise. Whether they have longetevity or not isn't up to Simon but their fan base and only time will tell if they are in it for the long haul or have moved onto the next big thing |

Only if they make a model of it out of toffee and hit it with hammers. Otherwise Wand Erection are one of the blandest boy bands ever.

They will never crack America. JLS failed to do so, so 1D have zero chance.

That said BTR are hardly superstars over there - they sold 500k copies of their debut album despite a TV show - so supporting them isn't like supporting Beiber. It will be interesting to watch over the next year or so to see just how much power Cowell really has, but if any UK boyband can do it, it will be 1D. |

I think they will do very well in the Uk, and can see them being around for a good 10 years. I don't think they have a chance to crack the USA at all.

Simon doesn't have a ton of credibility in the US market. If LA Reid backed one of Simon's UK acts then MAYBE.

yh im sure showing off their 'great singing' abilities is really going to win over the USA. in fact, i might as well send my cat over there, she's better than them, so you never know, she might make it as well, meowww
