daily star reports:

"One Direction Set to Cash In"

AMERICAN mega-brands are battling to sign up British hunks One Direction for ad deals after the band wowed the US.

http://www.dailystar.co.uk/news/view...et-to-cash-in/
The Daily Star have just regurgitated old news. The boys have signed deals weeks ago that are still to be announced. Harry was never going to go solo and isnt taking the lead in deals either as that will be the management. The Star are simply trying to make their rubbish story about Harry going solo seem like it was a true fact when it never ever was. One Direction as a group are Hot property and that is why they are being sougnt by advertisers.

never thought it was in a bit likely that harry would go solo so soon seeing that they have commitments well into next year... he won't gamble getting the ire of the fans who already have bought tickets for their shows a year in advance, lolz!! besides it's been stated and very clear as well that he needs the other boys as much as they need him and each other...

BIB: now that's what i want to see... hmmm... which products will we start buying this time next month, i wonder.. lolz!!.

dunno but me, i used my specs to read...

the whole article as written:

X FACTOR SAVED BY ONE DIRECTION

HIT boy band One Direction have saved The X Factor from the axe, says Simon Cowell.

The lads’ huge global success has bucked a trend of contestants whose careers have stalled.

And Cowell says 1D, including Harry Styles, 18, who came third last year, have given the show a boost.

Simon, 52, said: “I thought: ‘If we don’t find real stars, it’s a waste of everyone’s time.’

“They’re No 1 in 30 countries. That’s when you realise it’s really worth making this show.”

* * * *

it may be contested by another article later in the same or a different paper but that's what they've written at the mo...

omg... you really thought i would add something for the boys?

sorry to disappoint... i don't believe the boys need hyping/spinning from me...

what i present here is what is out there... that's why i link (as much as possible) so others can verify first hand with their very own eyes...

*and when i state my opinion, i strive to make it clear (stated or implied) that it is my own opinion, not the Gospel Truth.*

You're right, and Simon also said in his interview on Radio 4 that he considered packing in the show, because he didn't think there was any point going on if the show was only producing 1 single artists, bar Leona. So yes, 1D's success has given the show a new lease of life.

So I assume when he signed the three year contract with ITV during the 2010 show he knew ahead of time that they'd have a measure of success?.

It's a pity you didn't use your brain as well....

What Simon actually said as indicated by the QUOTES:

They’re No 1 in 30 countries. That’s when you realise it’s really worth making this show
AND

I thought: ‘If we don’t find real stars, it’s a waste of everyone’s time.'
How the Star arrived at; "HIT boy band One Direction have saved The X Factor from the axe, says Simon Cowell" from that is anyone's guess and is quite clearly patent nonsense.

Given the level of investment in the US version of X-Factor it really doesn't take a brain the size of a planet to deduce that there were no plans to axe the show any time soon.

The UK version is getting a little tired now and maybe there isn't the same level of commitment to that as there once was - but one thing for certain is that 1D won't have the slightest influence on any decision they make along those lines!

I reckon they might have had an impact on their decision as they are already using 1D to heavily promote X Factor USA. After seeing the global success of 1D they really want to replicate that by creating a US version of them.

It cuts both ways and it also stands to reason they will use everything they can to promote both the show and 1D...

But you don't invest the sort of money they have if you are considering pulling the plug and Simon will be answerable any backers. It's big business and they don't make decisions on a whim.

a-ha!! look who's talking?

do you really need a lesson in deciphering the written word?

it is clear what daily star has written (quotation marks or not):

HIT boy band One Direction have saved The X Factor from the axe, says Simon Cowell.

and what was written by the daily star, that was what i indicated when i typed: (comprendes? lolz!!)

"SIMON: X FACTOR SAVED BY ONE DIRECTION FROM THE AXE"

i put it in quotation marks to indicate it's not my own and followed it up with the link to the source (daily star)...

it's not that hard, really...

* * * * *

come to think of it, it is you who should use your brain before you post as it just embarrassingly bounces back in your face...

don't let emotion cloud your brain...just let some things go...lolz!!

you might have a quarrel with how the daily star arrived at that sentence but it is as clear as day they were quoting simon cowell!!

and that is why "he isn't actually quoted as saying that at all" is contested as another post that might be considered imbecilic...

use the brain as well indeed...

it's no rocket science...

The audio for the interview is on the radio 4 website I'm sure. It's more or less quote for quote.

be it as it may, that's beside the point, isn't it?

attributing can be done with direct AND indirect quotes, lolz!!

that's why looking for actual quotation marks in this person's case is both pointless and for a lack of a better word, "infantile?"...

i draw the line in linking a journalist handbook though i'm quite tempted and my motto is "always give in" lolz!!...
