I don't think it looks cheap to be honest - it's light which some people seem to think means cheap. I'm not too keen on heavier phones.

It feels more solid than my Galaxy S2 but to be honest I never found that cheap feeling either. Try it I guess!

In a word, NO.

I would save your cash, this handset is seriously over priced at present. Softwarewise it's great, hardwarewise it's nothing special at all. If there was no ICS I wouldn't even look at this to be honest.

I'll be keeping my Sensation and putting ICS on it as soon as I can. Once that's done I suspect my Nexus will be listed on Ebay.

If I could take the untouched ICS from the Nexus and place it on the Sensation right now I'd have the perfect handset.

I play with my Nexus when I'm at home because ICS is fantastic and really fun to use, but my Nexus has still yet to leave the house with me, my Sensation is still in my pocket every day.

Contracts aren't my area as I tend to buy sim free. That said, if I was to buy a contract I'd go with Three's One Plan for the free handset, unlimited data that's not a few gig in disguise and the large amount of call time. The 2 year contract would annoy me, but a sim free upgrade would sort that I'm sure.

To sum this up, once a bare ICS ROM is working on other handsets this Nexus will be forgotten in my view.

It's clearly a handset aimed at developers and you see little menu options and physical features to remind you off this every now and then.

Good handset, but I genuinely think it's seriously over priced at the moment for sim free and PAYG.”

The Nexus series is meant to be a showcase for pure Android. It doesn't necessarily have to be the best handset ever made and to call it a technology demonstrator directed at keen early adopters would not be disingenuous. Putting another launcher on there seems a bit strange to me personally. Then again, that's the beauty of Android.

Nexus can not be too bad, as seen by the huge smile a certain Apple co-founder had on his face when he received his

Several days in, I think mine's going up for sale....

I'm sticking with my sensation and waiting for an ics ROM I think.

Sadly it looks like there's some bugs already.

It is quite safe to say that there has never been any gadget released without bugs.

"The software issues come after the first owner of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus was given a developer model, instead of a full retail version by mistake."
On that one it seems to me that Phones 4U left it in the factory state and did not install their launch firmware as instructed.

Sounds like a big hardware issue with volume and interference from other devices.

A software issue to me.

With the volume slider moving it's almost certainly not a case of 'the tail wagging the dog'.

Are P4U really having to flash firmware before selling them? I'd have expected handsets coming through consumer channels to be consumer-ready.

I imagine many receive stuff open boxed and do the final packaging as per agents requirements.

Don't Apple send stuff JIT direct to the customer from China?

Right, I was all ready to nip into town and buy one today, but I think I'm going to hold off until next April when I'm due for an upgrade.

Looking at my trusty Desire, I felt a bit guilty in all honesty as it's served and continues to serve me very well.

Mind you, when I get a new phone, I 'transfer the soul' of the old one into the new empty one when I move the sim, so it wouldn't make a great deal of difference. I've always been a believer in Manitou.

While it feels cheap

damn it can stand some punishment similar to the GSII

I compared it to a mate's GS2 tonight. The Nexus is slightly longer and the Nexus screen looks a little smarter to be honest. GS2 produces better photos and video, but the Nexus camera is a lot faster and has better features.

Of the two I'd go for the Nexus, but I've never been a GS2 fan to be honest. I'm still sticking to the Sensation.

Looks like the volume problem may be hardware related: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...1356874&page=2

Not read all of it, but it would appear that they are asking for peoples addresses that have the problem (maybe getting them swapped out)?

You wont get vanilla on OEM handsets though. Like I said earlier, the Nexus series are technology demonstrators for early adopters. Subsequent handsets from HTC, Samsung, Motorola etc will will be overlayed by Sense, TW and Blur.

I was hoping someone would port a custom vanilla ROM for the Sensation.

Oh you can guarantee that will happen. On XDA they are already hard at work and there is an alpha of ICS for the Desire S already.

Then again from cupcake to gingerbread, ASOP android was and is a very basic functional affair whereas ASOP ICS apparently looks fantastic so may not need an overlay. Look forward to finding out.

Isn't the camera improvement more of an ICS feature? rather than hardware.

I picked up a GN on three this morning and i am very impressed with the phone and the network. The software is great, the build quality is excelent and i'm getting 6meg in an area orange can only give me 2g!

Seems like this phone is having major issues with the volume dropping. Samsung are apparently deleting any negative comments off of their official Facebook page.
