I wish people would stop calling Think a Motown song!

Aretha never was a Motown artist.

There are loads of songs that have never gotten to number one that are now iconic, and there are plenty of songs that have gotten to number one that people barely remember.

Aretha Franklin's Think is an iconic song, it's not about chart position, and quite frankly, Tulisa showed her ignorance. It's like any musician claiming they've never heard of Smokey Robinson's Tracks of My Tears just because it didn't get to number one in the charts.

It may have been a motown classic in the US and a big hit over there, but she probably, like most people her age has little to no interest in that type of music and most music from the 50's and 60's. I think people are being too harsh on her. I'm just going to have to agree to disagree, I don't think not knowing a song distantly related to her genre of music, which has been used in a few films, made number 26 on the charts in the UK and was a big hit in a completely different country over 50 years ago makes her ignorant.”

Where do you think Urban music came from Laura?

Please stop typing, you're making me feel all warm and embarrassed for you and I hate it.

What a moron!”

It got to No 7 in the Billboard Pop Singles Chart in 1968.it made it to No 26 in the UK the same year. She had far more popular songs that people would know.

I know the song but if someone asked me to name Arethas hit songs thats not one that would jump out at me immediately.

I would say that it's up there to be honest!! Respect, Say A Little Prayer and Think are probably her three most famous songs!

So you watched the video and realised you made a complete fool of yourself, but decide to continue with your absurd lie and say she didn't say it when she clearly says it on the video posted.

You are a troll/WUM.

That's the point, where do people here think that modern R&B comes from?

Aretha is the inspiration for so many modern R&B artists, she is required listening. Not knowing 'Think' undermines some of the 'roots' comments Tulisa has made earlier inlcuding the decision to send home some artists.

In her favour though she has done a good job with Little Mix.

Also, if you do not know who Aretha Franklin is, you should not be posting on this thread!

Its not one of my favourites and would not be first on my mind if asked her songs.

Aretha has had 44 albums ( excluding compilations ) and about 131 singles ( including her covering other songs ) its not unrealistic for a person not to know all of them.

It is a well known song of hers, if you know anything about Aretha Franklin. It isn't some random obscure album track.

If I was going to pay someone a fortune to be a musical judge/mentor, I would expect that person to know Aretha Franklin and her well known songs.

I am not expecting every person on DS to know it.

I have to admit that I only know that song after watching American Idol
