Ok so she knows nothing about anything past the 21st century. But she is no exception, most people her age and younger are generally ignorant. It's a generation thing. Despiste the advances in technology and the ease to get information, it seem the younger generation are gettng more ignornat and stupid than ever. If it is not 'current' they dont want to know. They are fickle and very impressionable. Most have Limited attention spans, and are only looking for instant gratification. They have an inability to source information unless it is presented direclty to them through mediums such as tiwtter, facebook and other social networks.

With older generation, people actually had to source information i.e going to the library and in the process increased their general knowledge, no wonder they are much more rounded and intelligent than the youngster today who are generally ignorant.

I was watching a bullseye on sky and it struck me how knowledgeble your local chap was. More shocking was that a quiz game show like that used to average over 17m viewers. You'd be lucky to get 4m with this generation.

So dont blame Tulisa blame her generation.

Good night - oh yeah Get Amelia the shouter out!

I'm only just 27 and was raised on proper music... as were all my friends. Don't tar us all with that stupid generalisation.

I'm younger than Tulisa and I know the song very well.

Not everyone is the same. People like different music and know different songs.

I am younger than Tulisa (by a year) and know a great deal about music before my time, its all what I listen to actually

Silliest post I have seen in a while, if its anything to blame its the genre of music she prefers?

Yes because obviously the easiest way for me to hear Aretha Franklin songs would not be for me to go on a social networking site (like YouTube) but to go to the library (maybe I could read a grammar book that teaches me that proper nouns like "Facebook" and "Twitter" begin with lower case letters whereas the word "limited" in the middle of a sentence should begin with a capital letter). After that, I could then sit at home for hours on end stretching my brain by watching repeats of Bullseye on Challenge followed by The X Factor.

I'm 20. I'd heard that song before, but had no idea it was by Aretha Franklin. The majority of the music I own and listen to is from the last five years.

My brother, also 20, listens to old school rock. Elvis and Meatloaf are a favourite of his. He HATES dance music.

So y'know...generalisations, generally, are really stupid.

P.S. I also have absolutely no idea who this En Vogue group are.

I'm 21 and I've heard Think before! People love to generalise.

This comes across as a 'In my day...' or a 'when I was a lad...' post, that people have been saying about the emerging generations for years. It's more ignorant to stereotype a generation, imo.

Rude thread and ignorant too.

You talk about ignorance but I think the only ignorant one here is you, OP.

I'm also younger than Tulisa, like a few others above, and find older music much superior to newer.

I'm 21 and although I like current music, I also like Queen, Elvis and George Michael - all of whom released their best stuff long before I was born.

I've actually only just realised that I do know the song. I didn't recognise it the way Amelia sang it though.

you can't generalise .. to me it all depends on how interested they are in music and if their parents/family/peers have an interest too so they hear a variety of genres, oldies and newies

some young people are very knowledgeable and some older people have no musical knowledge

ie Willie Carson last night on I'm A Celebrity hadn't heard of T'Pau's China In Your Hand .... how dare he!!!!!

Haha, he is, I just realised Elvis and Freddie are dead as I typed it!

One More Try is my favourite song though, and I think it's '89, so only a few months older than me!

Ignorant? Well prove me wrong. How is it that its only in the 21st century we have had the rise of talent air heads like Katie Price, Kim Kard----, kerry Katona, TOWIE, e.t.c Why are there some many magazines launched to cater for their audience? We used to have only 1 or 2 now there are over 20! Why are these ignorant airheads becoming more incredibly famous and successful? Did we have their equivalent decades ago and if so were they this successful? No! Why is this? Because it's a generation thing.

Being dumb and vacant is celebrated because it caters for the 'current' market. And the current market is the younger generation. The people who are famous in an era typify the generation. Go and some research on this topic. I did, maybe you should.

Btw I am young

There is nothing wrng with her generation. I am younger than her and know that song and so do all my friends. Plus she is meant to be a judge so it is obvious people expect her to know a lot about other genres of music besides her urban one. The fact that she critisises someone because she doesn't know the song is just humiliating herself.

In this thread you can see the OP regurgitating an article from The Sun (complete with quotes from the infallible teller of truth that is "a source" no less) as if it were the undeniable truth. Of course, coming from a superior generation, he is totally unimpressionable and yes, he does have an attention span long enough to read a proper newspaper, it just so happened that The Sun was the only paper in the library at the time.

I first heard it from the Blues Brothers soundtrack when I was only 7, it's a good song but it really didn't suit Amelia...imo

What evidence do you have to support for your argument? other than your own prejudice. From my experience you are talking nonsense. Most people I know who are younger than Tulisa like bands such as the smihs, Queen, guns and roses, Michael Jackson ect or are at least are aware of them.
