I prefer Melanie's voice, but I actually think Misha handled the song better. Melanie's voice was shaky for some of the big notes.

I can't compare a one trick pony belter to some who is actually an all rounder artist, creative and talented.

Melanie all the way.

Melanie I can see having a career, Misha may get one album flop if she's lucky.

Melanie wins by default simply because her rendition was far more challenging than Misha's attempt which was too low in key to be considered hard to sing.

God, I hate sweeping statements!!

I like Misha, have done since the beginning, don't give a monkey's about back stories. She's my 2nd favourite behind Marcus. And I did enjoy Misha's performance last night.

However, I do believe that anyone on the US XF can probably outsing anyone on our XF without exception, and I particularly like Melanie's vocal performances.

So for me, Melanie beats Misha, simple as that.

Both are good.

Misha has a more interesting tone, but Melanie has the technically superior voice.

Misha won me over with how she improves and more of the richness and layers of her lovely ,edgy strong voice emerge week by week, where Melanie was polished with a pretty much flawless ,gorgeous voice from the start.

I honestly enjoyed both versions.Misha and Melanie are my favourite female solo vocalists on the USA/UK shows.

THIS!!!!

The whole post was geared towards people saying that Misha was crap. I'll be glad when she's finally gone. I hate for anybody to have to experience this amount of hate on a daily basis, it must have a psychological effect, and with all the talk of people hating her because of the bullying allegations, I do think that there is nowhere that is more hate-filled than some of these DS forums.

Condemnation of an act is one thing, but the character assassination of Misha on here has been very hard to bear, and as she hasn't committed murder, robbed anybody, or killed a defenceless animal, I think it's all completely OTT.

haha good one...I forgot to mention the Corsa also had a water leak last night. I think it may be heading to the scrap yard within 2 weeks.

Misha is not a natural ballad singer but she made it personal which made it work....

Misha was a million times better, Melanie was very pitchy in the chorus

Melanie. Misha has some bad habits. Im not sure wherever it's her accent but there is this weird slight gargling? she does which can be pretty unpleasant. I thought she got shaky in the beginning but got better when she stopped the gargling but she kept reverting to it.

Jennifer Hudson, Vonzell, Trenyce and Leona all sang it better than both of them.

Misha also sang the song much lower than it should have been... thus, no pitch problems!

Melanie attempted it in the same key if not higher than the original...

Oh, for pity's sake. Give people a bit of credit for having ears, and for liking what they like based on the music and the performance.

I don't care about back stories, race, skin colour, likeability, sexual orientation, gender, or anything else. I'm purely interested in whether I like the music and the performance or not. Based on that, I would say:

1. Leona
2. Melanie
3. Misha

Purely because although Melanie had some tuning issues, she has more light and shade to her singing, meaning that the softly sung beginning notes were better than Misha, who is a great belter but I find her tone of voice too harsh for the quieter parts of the song. Misha also had some tuning issues so on balance IMHO Melanie was better.

Neither of them were a patch on Leona, but out of Misha and Melanie's performances, I preferred Melanie's. Nothing to do with whether I like Misha or not!

Actually, the posts about Misha on this forum haven't been a patch on the vitriol directed at Janet.

Some people do have opinions on here which are actually based on whether they like someone's *singing* or not......

Who do you think sang best?”

Melanie without a doubt - And there was no sob story before her performance.

Lol.

Misha's cynically futile attempt to try and appeal to a wider audience with a "safe" song choice, which ended up as mostly flat and shouty in places, and ultimately forgettable and dull, not just in comparison to Whitney, but even Melanie Amaro from XFUSA.

The winner? Hands down Melanie Amaro.

Totally agree with this. Why can't it be acknowledged that people all have different tastes. Whitney Houston is one of my favorite singers of all time but l remember when some people were saying (and some still believe) she spoilt a good Dolly Parton song with her version of 'l will always love you'. It's all about preference!

Traditionally, this country does not really go for ballad singers so it's no surprise that Melanie's more subtle tones would be more popular than Misha's more earthier ones. Personally l found Melanie's version terrible. She was flat, slightly off key and boring. For me it's not just about singing high notes or being able to bang out a tune, you have to be able to do something interesting with the notes when you get there. This is something Misha can and did do with this song yesterday.

Although Misha does have a few bad habits and in my opinion still needs to develop l think she has more creative talent than Melanie - just my opinion not a personal attack! I do however believe that maybe it's time for Misha to leave the competition because as much as l would miss her performances l think there is too much dislike and abuse aimed at her. This on top of the difficulties she also seems to be facing in her personal life is too much for an adult to have to deal with let alone a teenager! I'd just like to say that again 'teenager'! I do think that some people forget that!
