Just heard it on the radio in the car, Strictly peaked at over 12 Million, X Factor peaked at 11 Million.

Wonder what publicity stunt/twist Cowell and co will pull next?

Well Strictly were at Wembley, so I'm not surprised tbh

They wouldn't have won if they weren't at Wembley.

I think that's more a case of Strictly getting a big boost due to being at Wembley. I don't think X Factor has actually lost viewers.

With the insane amounts of adverts, I'm surprised ratings for XF aren't much lower with people recording it instead.

Also X Factor has adverts which are removed for the official rating, so XF always gets a higher boost in the officials than SCD which may mean they didn't win/didn't win by as much as people are saying.

It's got nothing to do with X-Factor being bad, it's to do with Strictly being really good.

Strictly has really improved, still prefer X-Factor though, I know some people aren't too fond of this series because of the MANY changes that have taken place but I think it's been really good so far.

Anyone who's got Virgin or Sky can fast forward the adverts though.

11m for X Factor is good.

I don't think people watching it on delay appear on the overnights though, only the official ratings.

Also it isn't anyone with Virgin/Sky.. its anyone with V+/Sky+.

Strictly does do well considering it's just a load of ballroom dancing without the massive marketability and PR machine of X Factor.

Who would have thought something like Come Dancing would ever make a comeback 10 years ago?

It really is David and Goliath and the wee guy keeps winning.

Nothing to do with the show being at Wembley, it's either been neck and neck with X Factor or has beaten it every single week so far. Would have been unthinkable last year.

I honestly thought Strictly was finished, but it's bounced back this year. Some of us suspected it would though, especially after BGT was beaten by Eurovision earlier this year.

What were the viewing figures this time last year for X Factor? Were they much higher? 11 million is still pretty good.

Strictly bores me...even though I tuned out of X Factor this year (no talent that I like - sorry) I haven't started watching Strictly either.

It has everything to do with it being at Wembley. I never watch Strictly, but I tuned in last night because it was at Wembley and I'm sure many, many others did the same.

You've spoken to each of the other 12 Million viewers then?

It averaged 10.5m including the +1 option. Last week was 10.9m and a few weeks before that were below 10m. Same show last year got 14.60m.

Strictly gained 12m viewers, did it? I thought it was around 2m.

Being at Wembley was a novelty, loads of people would have watched to see how it turned out - it's the first time it's ever happened, of course there'd be a lot of interest because of it!

I always watch Strictly and record XF. The latter I get through in 1/2 hour by eliminating all the dross.

SCD have an established judging line up, as Alesha has now settled into the role, plus you have a great cast selection of "celebrities" with four dancers of similar standard who could win; whilst three others on their day can challenge them, and then you've got the knowing camp joker, and you've had the deluded rubbish dancer too.

In contrast X-Factor has suffered because of the judging panel who seemed so great in the editing up until the Final Live stages. Now suddenly Louis suddenly looks like a spare part better off on BGT; Gary Barlow is coming across as knowledgeable self-righteous bore; and it's clear that Tulisa & Kelly are not faking their dislike for each other.

Add to that the Producer's own goals of the Week 1 Twist resulting in a credible potential winner being sent home (it's clear from last night's sabotage song choice that the return of Amelia means her winning is not welcome whatsoever); The Risk doing a Sugababes with their change of personnel; the Frankie Cokeupthenozza controversy; and worst of all the knobbling of the then favourite and stand out singer Misha B. If those bullygate allegations were planned to even the playing field then my goodness they've backfired horribly.

I am not surprised I watched Strictly and did not even bother turning over just watched Merlin. It is the first time I have done that but X-factor has lost the plot. How many more mediocre singers and boring acts can be crowned Winner, it is just a joke now.

BGT got beaten by Eurovision because of John and Edward. Any way BGT I think did beat it when it in the clash

I honestly think the biggest thing affecting X Factor this year is ADVERTS!!! It's absolutely ludicrous!! They are so often, and so long!!! I watched live for the first time in ages last night....won't be doing that again!!!

SCD had a charity show at Wembley raising money for Children in Need. That would be an awesome selling point for any show whther its X Factor/Strictly all the way to Babestation or Top Cat on Ice

I doubt they'll bother now, it's obvious that this series simply isn't working and they'll just be happy to get to the end. It was down 19% from the same show last year which had 13.2m viewers which is of far more concern than being beaten by a much hyped Strictly charity special (for only the second time this series). It's also down slightly on 2008 albeit tonights results will be miles ahead of 2008.

On the plus side, X Factor will still be the #1 show of the week. Strictly used to beat X Factor routinely. Now when it does, threads get started and articles get written. It's as much a sign of how incredibly X Factor did between 2008 and 2010.

They'll probably never get back to the crazy levels of 2009 and 2010. But the challenge will be to try and steady the ship next year. They're going to face an uphill battle because they'll start next series well down on this year.

There were adverts last year, and in 2009, and in 2008...
