There's really no need to be so pedantic.

As I'm sure you probably know, I was alluding to the fact that there are far more ad breaks this year and that the majority of them are rather long.

It's also down slightly on 2008 albeit tonights results will be miles ahead of 2008.

On the plus side, X Factor will still be the #1 show of the week. Strictly used to beat X Factor routinely. Now when it does, threads get started and articles get written. It's as much a sign of how incredibly X Factor did between 2008 and 2010.

They'll probably never get back to the crazy levels of 2009 and 2010. But the challenge will be to try and steady the ship next year. They're going to face an uphill battle because they'll start next series well down on this year.”

I Agree BGT was down by 1% last year. if X Factor is the same it will still be a huge show though

There's actually no more ad breaks this year than compared to last year or the year before. There are certain rules that ITV have to adhere to regarding commercial breaks and none of these rules have changed in the last year or two.

I tend to think when people complain about the adverts, it's because they're just not enjoying the actual show as much and using the adverts as a reason to say when they're not enjoying the show as much as previously. If the show is entertaining enough, people will tolerate the ads. There wasn't as much criticism regarding the adverts last year, even though the no. of ads was just as much, probably because people were enjoying the show more and didn't really care about sitting through the ads unlike this year.

In olden days that may be the case but niot now - with so many adverts, people just channel hop until the adverts finish, and if they find something that holds their attention then they stick with it, perhaps returning later on - this may be helping SCD as the viewer will remain within the programme for much longer
