Little Mix and Kitty did not use autotune

I am posting this again - with a change of title - as it slipped off the board.

Antares is a studio technique (VST plugin) so is usually used post production unless it is being used as a standalone effect - Cher. There was a ho, hah was about the use of it at the audition stage - I think last year - which was pre-recorded.

Thought I need to say this as it would be difficult to use it in a live setting as a pitch corrector. A lot of big artists, Mariah, Beyonce and so on pre-record live performances and mime to them which means they can use pitch correction.

Probably best not to keep accusing the contestants of using it particularly as most of them are rarely pitch perfect throughout.

I agree. Listening back, Little Mix don't sound as if they were auto tuned at all last night, I thought they sang well. What I do suspect though, is that like One Direction last year, several of Little Mix's performances have had backing vocals added. I really get the hump about this because groups shouldn't need backing vocals, either to boost their singing or to drown them out and make them sound better than they are.

I agree with you about the backing vocals. I think Gary may have a point when he suggested they sing without a backing track.

Ah did he? I missed that. Good on him, I think he's right. It's a sneaky trick that's gradually crept into the X Factor, and I find it really irritating.
