Applying for tickets for live shows
BeckaBoots
20-11-2011
I have applied to the BBC for tickets to see the show every year, many, many times over - but still no luck. I have seen the tour shows and would dearly love to go to the BEEB.

I am interested to see how many times others have applied for tickets, and whether they have been successful.

My sister in law applied 3 years running, got tickets this year BUT........even that didn't guarantee getting in. She arrived 2/3 hours before kick off and it was too late, people had been queueing for 3 or 4 hours before that!

I have applied every year for the last 5 years. I was successful 4 years ago, and this year too. I must be very lucky as my step-mum also got tickets this year, and took me with her so I got to go twice! Have to say it was utterly brilliant every single time!

I too gave up after a year or two of trying. Often wonder if being in London is an advantage as I couldn't even get through the engaged signal from North Wales.

Tried for hours, got rsi and very upset!

Or do they now use something better than the phone?

I live in London (in fact 5 mins walk from TVC) and have been applying for tickets for the last 6 years but have never managed to get any.

However been lucky to go 3 times this year through friends.... (its handy having a free spare bed every now and then...)!

No offence meant to anyone, but as so many people apply and are disappointed, I do not think people should be permitted to attend twice, even as a guest. It's a one off experience that not everyone will be able to enjoy - once you've had the pleasure of going once - move over and let someone else have a ticket.

........and no I haven't applied ever, I just feel strongly about fairness and this could be run much better by bbc booking.

No offence taken.......but I can't imagine that there are many fans out there who would be gallant enough to pass up the chance of going if they were allocated tickets or if a member of their family were allocated them! If there are, I am obviously the lesser woman.

Me too. I do wonder if its an age thing. On the application they ask for your age and I wonder if being older (as I am) stops you getting in!

I've applied for 3 years and not got tickets, but I know a fair few people who have been (people who post on here). I can understand the frustrations at people getting to go multiple times, I used to be annoyed at that myself, not so much this year because it's been such a disappointing show, but really, there's no way of policing who takes who, and I think it's far better to have genuine fans in the audience, who appreciate and support the dancers, pros as well as celebs, than those who are dragged along by their partners. Just my opinion.

I wonder if that is the case? Us more mature people can scrub up nicely as well!

I doubt it, I'm 21 and have never been successful! And at the minute I don't live far from London either!

That is what needs to be done. When I have gone, I have traveled from Devon at 6am to make sure I'm at the beeb for 10. I would never chance it. It's too precious.

Oh, I have applied every year since the days when you had to phone up for tickets instead of applying online. Series three I phoned up around week 2 one afternoon, quite casually, and got tickets for week 4. Oh, halcyon days, how I miss you. I have been lucky enough to go five times, not including Wembley but it has always either been through friends or finding someone with a spare ticket on the day.

I have applied many many times and never ever been successful through the online process, the only time I have got tickets is through my sisters, friends mum who happened to work for the BBC at the time and managed to get me tickets

I also got tickets for Wembley - nearly died of shock!
