does homechoice have bandwidth limits that they enforce, because if they do i'll have to think twice about getting them, because at the moment i'm with central point at the moment the service they are providing is satifactory and that is it i was looking to change but need unlimited bandwidth.

Yes, the bandwidth is capped at varying levels depending on the service you pay for. As far as I know there's no 'unlimited' option - though I can't understand how anyone could need more than 45Gb per month!

From the AUP:

Quote:
“1.3 You agree not to exceed the download limit allocated to your Internet Service. For the 512Kbps service the download limit is 5GB per month. For the 1Mbps service, the download limit is 1GB per day and for the 2Mbps service the download limit is 45GB per month.”

i currently 1mbps and have bandwidth usages of easily in excess of 1GB per day, there are soon to be more users using the same line so more bandwidth would be needed,

if i had homechoice i could get rid of TOPUP TV too because they have a better channel line up and that streams aren't limited to certain times of day.

I have 512k ADSL with PlusNet and used 62 GB last month and 69 GB the month before.

Now their monitoring could be wrong but I don't think it would be too far off. So it's very possible.

If you do the maths, you can only download an absolute maximum of 4 to 5Gb per day on a 512k line at full utilisation over 24 hours.

So to get 69Gb in a month you'd have to be at capacity for over 50% of the day. No wonder they think it's a good idea to bring in caps

I didn't know that PlusNet had a tool for measuring bandwidth, so I was about to email them to ask them how much was actually being used, to see if "upgrading" to the 2mbps with only 2GB per month would be possible.

I was pretty shocked when I saw that usage was up around the 60GB to 70GB mark. Especially because for the last two months I haven't been using it. So before that (records don't go that far back) it could have been much crazier.

I can see why they brought in the caps now too!
