It is such a shame to see hate spilling out about a singing (loosely)/personality contest, but it happens every year on here someone or some people come in for attacks.

I think Janet seems like a lovely girl, and I loved her song last night, for me it was her best so far. I am not sure she will win, but whatever happens I wish people could just see the show for what it is, purely entertainment as we hardly ever find a GLOBAL (as Louis puts it) superstar.

utter tripe, they do that so her fans like you think oh poor janet she must be near the bottom, lets give her more votes next week, therefore helping her more than hindering her.

is she getting no tuition at all, the first time i heard her sing she quite audibly breathes in ( like a 50 cigs a day, asthmatic) at the end of nearly every line she sings, months later she still does it.

It would do the girl no harm to tip her head upside down and drink a glass of water, does wonders for hiccups


I actually think Janet could have a cracker of a hit with a Celtic theme but very much a novelty, one hit wonder.

Marcus could have a nice middle of the road Xmas hit followed by a 70's disco hit.

Personally think Little Mix could have a good 3 year run, break; a couple of soloists have a short career from the group too.

Amelia is almost there, not quite definitely potential for worldwide success.

Misha should already be out doing music.

Funny, the Janet thing on here reminds me of Aaron in the BB boards too, she has some very strong support and very strong opposition. People can become incredibly involved with people on these shows.

The issue is that she does the same thing every week and has shown no versatility like Craig.
Also the fact that Janet fans start the most hateful threads about other acts so it is hard to have any sympathy for Janet.

Because she's an attractive young woman with some distinctive quirks, and a large contingent Digital Spyders are rancid mingers with an abiding hatred of any hint of individuality?

I think that a number of people are being OTT on the "hate" comment here myself! Just because people have an opinion does not mean that they hate Janet. Have you ever wondered with so many people saying the same thing about Janet being boring because of the same old monotonous songs and singing that certain people are really fed up of the same old thing all the time?

I for one really liked Janet in her first audition, I thought that she was totally amazing but I dont think that she has lived up to this audition at all!. Janet constantly looks miserable and acts like you does not want to be there most of the time!

No she doesn't.

It's simply a case that many on DS find it beyond their comprehension if an act doesn't go on stage with at least 12 backing dancers and pyrotechnics.

She doesn't need it.

What justifies the relevance of most "haters" opinions? Any professional singers or training themselves? Successful producers? Ever set foot in a recording studio or on a stage? Any real industry knowledge whatsoever?..... Thought not.

I don't hate Janet, I just don't like her voice and singing style.

It is unfair on Janet, having the smallest regional support compared to the likes of Manchester and London etc. yet she still makes it through each week. Good for her.

Ask the same for Janet fans.

I'm not even close to disliking the girl, but when people say her voice isn't to their taste and fans come out with rubbish like this, I fully understand them being annoyed. No one person's opinion is more valid or 'right' than the next person's.

I think it must be to do with fanbases and all that kind of stuff or something.

I don't understand the hate myself. It's not like your going to change the opinion of anyone who supports her. Here is why I think she is doing well so far:

1. Janet is incredibly talented, as are all of the remaining contestants. If you think she isn't you are just ignoring reality.
2. She fits into a genre and style that is otherwise missing on the X Factor this year. If you favor simpler arrangements that focus on vocals rather than big productions, your only choice is Janet. From that perspective she's not splitting her votes with anyone.
3. She comes across as genuine, independent, smart and sure of herself, but not in an obnoxious way. In other words - a good role model. That would appeal to a lot of a) young/teen girls and b) their mothers and c) their grandmothers.
4. She is very attractive, even bordering on stunning, yet doesn't play that up at all. If you like your female artists with understated good looks, she's your girl

There IS a market for Janet, and obviously, that market so far has been voting for her in a big way. They just don't take the time to visit the DS forums.

I don't get it either. The haters don't matter though, she has a lot of support and that's all she needs to stay in the competition

Some of you really need to make a distinction between "not liking" meaning not liking the person and "not liking" meaning not liking the singing style!

I don't like her singing style - I've got nothing against her as a person, I don't know her as a person, but I don't like her singing style, that's all it is.

I'm sure I like singers whose style a lot of you wouldn't like, but I don't bang on about how you "have to" like it or you're a "haterz lolz" do I!

Janet was a lovely girl in her Vt but now she is coming across has sour grapes she not shining like she thought and her songs are one trick ponies nothing wrong with that but Im not into a primark Kate Bush. I think if she was to really want to win she should beef up and stampo her authority on her songs and demand you listen .

Anyone who doesn't think Janet Devlin has the voice of an angel is a hater. Well who knew?

The kid sings just fine for a school recital but a pop star she is not and will not be. She might get a few gigs. Most likely at funerals whining Ave Maria. :yawn:

The demographic of Digital Spy is largely not the people Janet appeals to. Same with the studio audience.

The studio audience typically like songs with a powerful vocal often with a high note held for a period of time. Either that or an upbeat sing-a-long.

This is what irritates me about her singing - the hiccup/squeak at the end of each line.

Big brother forums thought digital soy had losy its mojo but the amount of appreciation for one housemate made him a winner so I think if Ds has it's way anyone but Janet Devlin will win the same think happened to Cher Lloyd another who I thought was overated.
