I am not a huge corrie fan but I watched tonights and that it was dire the acting of a certain few is a disgrace in my view it is no worse than what Eastenders has been yet people seem to think this is great WHY?.

Because EastEnders has been consistently poor over the past...well...year or so.

Granted there are a few poor actors on Coronation Street, but the writing, and show on a whole has been nowhere near as bad as EastEnders has been.

I too agree that tonight's episode was boring and uneventful, but there's no way that one poor episode of the Street could be compared to EastEnders's continual spate of bad acting and writing.

Fair enough, I did not mean to go off on a big one but that was the first full ep I have seen of corrie for a while and i did just think it was poor.

I liked when Karen said Steve was like Mrs. Doubtfire!

Which actors do you think were bad? There was no sign of Warren or Katy anywhere!

I dont know what Loopy Lisa has said - nor do I care. All I can say is I thought Corrie was brilliant tonight unlike the mogadon fest that was on BBC1 from 8pm

I only saw corrie, but i enjoyed it. I didn't think it was bad. The acting from Sally Lindsay wasn't bad, it's just the character who is at hte moment very needy and insecure.

I thought tonight's Corrie was ok. The new barmaid's a bit feisty. Ste / Karen / sprog was ok. Shelley irritates me though...

You are right about Shelley. I suppose that we do tend to get irritated by people in soaps that continually make the wrong choices. I do.

Shelly is becoming Corrie's version of Niamh from Fair City. A great face for crying as Mother Blank would say.

I AM a huge Corrie fan, but yes - if I hadn't watched it for ages, and just saw one episode, I could see there wasn't too much to jump out at you. The thing about Corrie is they weave various storylines in and out of one another. So it would take a couple of weeks to familiarise yourself with all the current going's on...... but it's rare for Corrie to go off the boil for more than a couple of episodes. Bear in mind they tend to save the more dramatic storylines for their twice-nightly Monday slot.

Karen's dancing eyebrows and facial expressions could have a show all to themselves! Gosh she looked scary when she said she wanted to bash Steve over the head with the wine bottle!

What was said between Sarah and Karen? Was getting a cuppa and only caught the tailend where Sarah said something like she wants people to remember that her baby had a name.
Loved Baby Amy looking up at the microphone the last few scenes. She's a little doll

I thought last nights was fine, I agree with the few bad actor comments, although how you can leave Les Battersby off that list is beyond me (can he do anything apart from yell his lines ) Baby Amy is a doll, I'm convinced she is, in fact, a cabbage patch doll

Baby Amy is a real we beaut especially when she gives that big smile. Its no wonder Steve could not resist her and even Karen is getting fond of her. Also she is ten time a better actress than Tracyluv

I saw Corrie too... And as much as I LOVE (and I mean love) Babeh Ameh (Amy), it wasn't that great. Just average. It was actually about the same level as EE is right now.

I HATE Ciaran and Shelley and Les but fortunately Warren wasn't there (Thank God!).

But the thing that generally sets it apart from EE is the writing... That's why it's better right now, IMO. They don't need amazing storylines, or even good ones, as long as they keep up the writing and humour. EE can't do that. If they could (they need to hire great writers), they could get the break they needed to recouperate.

Spot on choco, the writing flows naturally, it sounds like people talking - not like actors saying lines. It's a skill the EE writers need to rediscover before there's any appreciatable change in the quality of EE.
