Before we get on to the finer details of who is bringing what on Saturday evening I would like to say something.

I'm not going to dwell on the events of the weekend just past with regards to spoilers, as plenty has already been said; but can I make 'newbies' to this site aware of the following:

We (fellow forum members) are aware that the result maybe provided to this forum from a source other than an audience member; we don't ask any questions and certainly wouldn't expect answers.

I'm not sure if we'll get a spoiler this week and for the rest of the series but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that someone comes up trumps!

Ordinarily this is a fun forum to visit and everyone's view/opinion etc is taken into account, if you don't agree with someone or something please keep it to yourself and respect the other users here. Thank you.

Right, down to the important stuff, sticking with the 70's theme I'm bringing a chocolate fondue set and some homemade punch

Hmm, will be at home this weekend so not sure on nibbles/drinks - will have to ask my mom when I phone her tomorrow.

Newbie here - my guilty pleasure was browsing the spoiler thread - I'm so glad it's going to continue given some of the mean comments made over the weekend. I'd like to add to comments made on week 8 spoiler how gratefully received the spoilers are and I don't really care who is telling tales, I'm just glad to hear them!!

Well thats early.
I hope people dont come here and complain about this thread being opened. Its called the spoiler thread and if someone is against the idea of having a spoiler thread then I suppose they should go elsewhere.
Now the competition is heating up and I hope Anita (lovely woman, loving the competition but she's an okay dancer. She loving this competition a bit too much IMHO) or Holly (still dont see any improvement)are the ones to go next.
Well I must be in the minority but I dont think that Wembley was that bad.But I am still happy to see the show to return to the regular dancefloor.
I really hope that we have a spoiler for this week. Will all the negativity going on in the spoiler thread for last week I hope our usual suspects are here.

Thanks for opening this thread early, TBM. I hope we can keep it fun again. I'll bring scampi and chips in baskets and some Babycham in keeping with our retro-evening.

I like the cut and thrust of forums providing nobody gets bullied - they thrive on controversy. I view the spoiler thread every Saturday long may it continue. I'm grateful to the people who get the results out.

As a long time lurker I was saddened by previous events and on the medicinal brandy by the end. Hopefully it won't be needed this week, but it will be in the sideboard if called upon! Thanks to all who have posted previous spoilers, fingers crossed for this week.

Here's hoping we will have a mole and we treat it gently!

With all panda/tiger/elephant/polar bear/monkey cam watching that has gone on over the last few years, we are definitely big animal lovers on this thread!

PS Did I miss any animals out?

Footygirl did start a thread yesterday asking anyone going to the show this week to contact her, but the thread seems to have disappeared.

It has definitely been removed. I posted at about 7pm - GMT - to bump it up the list as it had dropped on to page 2 by then. Next time I went to check it wasn't to be seen.

Could I suggest that if people come on here this week making the same sort of comments about spoilers, people send an alert to the mods pointing it out rather than argue with them.

The mods can then decide if the person in question has come onto the thread to cause trouble or not without a big argument which derails the thread.

I don't often use the ignore button but it is there so you don't have to read stuff by people who wind you up.

I feel quite strongly that people who aren't mods shouldn't make up rules and go round trying to impose them on other people, but I was probably mistaken in posting that on the thread because it just added to the argument and as the saying goes 'don't feed the trolls'.

Well said TBM, can we make a pact to totally ignore any trolls and WUMs, no replies, no comments, just stick with the friendly folk and what we do best - food, booze, spoilers and fun.

This week I can bring my cocktail shaker and plenty of bottles so we can have a selection of retro cocktails

I bumped soon after 8 and it was on page one then. Anyone know why it went?

I know. Let's hope someone had already contacted her before the thread was pulled, otherwise we could end up trawling Twitter for the result. Someone must have reported the thread because it mentioned exchanging personal information i.e. mobile numbers.

Sounds a good plan to me. Let's hope we have a good week. I won't be on the thread again till Saturday but meanwhile I'm baking a big cake with lots of icing.

Hang on, what you are saying reads in effect "If you don't agree with me, don't say anything."

Well, I'll say this, starting a spoiler thread on Monday for the following Saturday, is just plain daft.

If you want to post trivia, which indeed is your right, please don't include "spoiler" in the title of a thread on Mondays, there's no point as what you've posted has nothing to do with it.

Is it possible to include the magic word "Appreciation" in the title of the spoiler thread so any negative posts can be quickly removed?

Quote:
“Appreciation Threads
Appreciation threads are designed to allow fans of a particular subject to engage in positive and lighthearted discussion of a subject. Negative posts in an appreciation thread are considered off-topic and will be removed. If you wish to discuss the subject of an appreciation thread you are welcome to post constructive negative comments in a separate thread.”

Good idea - if you can have an appreciation for SCD spoilers rather than for contestants - it would mean all discussion of whether there should be a thread, what should be posted on it and when, all needed to be discussed on a separate thread.

OMG, I don't believe it, spoiler thread on a Monday, that's just ridiculous. It's getting earlier and earlier, I'll never be able to find the spoiler on Saturday night so that I can complain about you giving it to me.

I'm sorry, I couldn't resist.

Oh, I've got prawn cocktail, cheese fondue with cubes of bread and lots of brown food that I have no idea what the main component it. Enjoy!

I don't want to cause trouble and I hope no one minds me posting about this, but some of the newer members might not know that last year, DS allowed us to set up a chat thread called The Norty Step, so members could talk about anything they like, not just SCD.

The Norty Step thread came about because people were 'chatting' earlier and earlier every week on JohnfromWales' fabulous Musings on a Saturday Evening thread, whilst waiting for his latest musings to appear. This chatting got on the nerves of a lot of posters, so the chatterboxes joked that it felt like we had been sent to the naughty step and they became known as the norty steppers. Just like here on the spoiler thread, we shared food and drink and chat away. This isn't really allowed under DS rules because a lot of the time we were off topic (the topic being SCD), but DS agreed to give the chat thread a try.

The thread is here and it has been quiet lately (not sure why), but it is a very friendly place with no nastiness and it just crossed my mind that it does the same job as starting the spoiler thread early every week.

Everyone is welcome to post on the Norty Step, it's not a clique or anything like that, so I thought I would mention it.
