Good evening all, thanks for opening this thread early, I'll bring the cheese and pineapple on sticks. I'll even try to make them look like hedgehogs !!! Fingers crossed.
Here's hoping for a good party.

I don't often use the ignore button but it is there so you don't have to read stuff by people who wind you up.

I feel quite strongly that people who aren't mods shouldn't make up rules and go round trying to impose them on other people, but I was probably mistaken in posting that on the thread because it just added to the argument and as the saying goes 'don't feed the trolls'.”

Well said - and fingers crossed for a mole

If we're going with a 70's theme this weekend, I'll bring some prawn vol au vents and a Black Forest Gateau, very Abigail's Party, any Demi Rousos fans here?

I thought of mentioning the alert button (shame its not an ejector seat ) Sounds like a good idea to me and I completely agree with your post.

I don't normally post on here, just lurk to get the spoiler, but Sundays fiasco just left me
I didn't trust myself to post as I'd probably have been banned

A great big THANK YOU goes out to everyone who provides the spoiler and I hope it contunues.

Anyway, onwards and upwards......I've just eaten but I do have some black forest gateau in honour of the 70's theme if anyone would like a slice

That was my reading of the OP too...everyone's views will be accepted but if you don't agree with the majority don't say so

The Norty Step thread came about because people were 'chatting' earlier and earlier every week on JohnfromWales' fabulous Musings on a Saturday Evening thread, whilst waiting for his latest musings to appear. This chatting got on the nerves of a lot of posters, so the chatterboxes joked that it felt like we had been sent to the naughty step and they became known as the norty steppers. Just like here on the spoiler thread, we shared food and drink and chat away. This isn't really allowed under DS rules because a lot of the time we were off topic (the topic being SCD), but DS agreed to give the chat thread a try.

The thread is here and it has been quiet lately (not sure why), but it is a very friendly place with no nastiness and it just crossed my mind that it does the same job as starting the spoiler thread early every week.

Everyone is welcome to post on the Norty Step, it's not a clique or anything like that, so I thought I would mention it. ”

Hi Buddy, I mentioned this thread last week when someone took exception to the spoiler thread starting early, but I don't know whether anyone went to have a look or not. It's certainly been quiet on there since JfW stopped posting, and I know that I sort of forgot about it.

Just quoting your post, as it was the final one on the previous page and people may not have noticed it.

Yes, I posted an otter cam

We're asked only to use the alert button if rules are being broken, I think the one that applies is

Quote:
“Baiting - Don't wind people up to try to get them to say something in violation of the Terms and Conditions. It's obvious to other users and to us, doesn't work (we evaluate other posts and wider context when dealing with alerts), and backfires.”

Nobody can read people's minds so just because a post upsets people it doesn't mean it was done deliberately. But if you think someone may be deliberately winding people up to cause a fight, it's much better to throw it over to the mods to decide rather than give them what they want.

I've been a mod on other forums and getting people into a heated discussion about the rules is a very good way of causing an argument if you're so inclined. But then on the other hand people may genuinely not understand the rules and especially not 'unwritten rules' about individual threads.

I was not involved in the spoiler thread last week because I was at Wembley but I did read it later and saw what went on.....can I please just make a couple of points.

The person who posted that they were not happy about the spoiler being posted before the audience/pro/celebs know is NOT a TROLL OR A WUM she is a longstanding member of this forum who was posting her opinion which the last time I looked she is entitled to do, she did not break any rules as far as I can see she was just giving a different view from the vast majority on the thread.....calling someone a troll or a wind up merchant just because you dont agree with what they say is not my definition of a troll.

She felt very strongly about what she said and was royally abused for it, one poster even said she wasnt 'welcome' on the spoiler thread. The ONLY place on these forums where someones ALTERNATIVE view is not welcome is in the appreciation section so its probably best to not lay down rules for this thread unless you prefer to have it removed to the attic with the appreciation threads.

As far as I am concerned people can say what they like as long as it doesnt break the forum rules ....if you dont agree with what someone says then just ignore them.....I usually find that works pretty well in most circumstances.

As a lurker and avid reader of the spoiler thread can I just add my thanks to Alisonrose for her information that we get every week. I am really sorry that she feels that she can no longer let us know the result but after reading the last spoiler thread can understand why.

I hope that we will still get a spoiler from some other good soul and that the action of a few will not stop them.

I've got a bottle of red wine that I can add to the party fare. I don't drink so it will just gather dust in the house.

I hope there will be a spoiler. Alisonrose has done a sterling job providing the spoilers and deserves all the thanks everyone's given her.

Now to see what else I can find in the cupboards that passes as party food.

Oh, there's some great stuff here, had forgotten about Abigails Party - will have to watch that again! Great food suggestions too, pineapple and cheese was a staple at many of my school friends parties I went to way back in the 70's

I think it could be the last week for Anita or possibly Robbie, and I read earlier that Brendan's replacing Robin this week
