Wembley

I was completely underwhelmed by the famous Wembley Arena. It was totally the wrong place for this show - too big, too many bright lights, too much noise, and too much going on to distract us from the dancing. I am a huge fan of Chelsee and Pasha but even they didn't look good against that background. As for that ridiculous raised platform, that was positively dangerous for dancing. I have danced on something like that, and I was nervously keeping one eye on where the edge was so that I didn't fall off.

Where will they go next year - the Blackpool Tower Circus? Will the contestants come on riding elephants, and have the judges in cages? (Actually, that last idea would work for me).

Well I agree for the TV viewer it wasn't so good as in the studio, the whole point was to raise money for CIN and for that reason I don't mind sacrificing it for 1 show.

They had the stage like that for the celeb tour earlier this year (Craig's idea I hear) so the pros knew about the size and shape of it...

But agree it sort of made the big space even more of a mismatch than when there was no "4 leaf clover" dias.

It was great with the perspective of being there but agree at times it looked too busy or enormous for the dancing.

The problem is that if they don't go somewhere else on the CIN weekend, they end up in a smaller studio with many many less seats (ie hardly any for the public) and it is a good way to raise money for a worthy charity.

Well, if it's seats they want, how about the Stadium next year?

All the moaning about Wembley is beginning to take the shine off what was a fantastic day for those of us that were there. I am sorry that it didnt come across well on the TV but surely just 1 week out of 3 months isnt too much to ask so that so many more people can go to see the live show. I count myself as very fortunate to have been allocated tickets....because of mobility issues I have never applied for or would ever be able to go to TV centre because of the queuing so this was a once in a lifetime occasion for me and I thought it was fantastic. Apart from that is raised well off 100 thousand for children in need.

I do accept what you say about the it being not so good for the TV viewer but after watching on the TV last night I actually thought the results show was better in that environment and if you asked Russell if he wanted to go home in front of 200 random celebs and polite audience or 6000 true fans going generally bonkers I am pretty sure which he would choose.

I would never ever advocate it being like that ever week but once a series is fine.

I'm so glad you enjoyed it and you're right, what does it matter for 1 show. I'm glad it raised so much money.

When you put it like that......actually my gripe was more the innate and inordinate amount of pre show hype that was given. They did it with Halloween and at once stage you could count the amount of time Wembley was mentioned on ITT and the main show on your hands and toes in a half hour segment.

My Mum thought it looked brilliant and it's made her want to go to the Tour again (we've had a couple of years break) and I can imagine all the children especially who would never get to the BBC show being so excited. When we took my step daughter to the show she burst into the tears when the theme tune started as she was so excited to be there and so overwhelmed.

Glad you had such a good time.

I think we are being naive here. What on earth do you think it cost to stage it there? And for the television viewers who are and should be the BBC's prime focus as licence fee payers, it was a disaster. CIN was Friday and like many other people I gave throughout the day. Enough.

No, there are MILLIONS that want to watch the show and only 6000 can get in Wembley Arena so there is no way you can justify what was a truly shambolic and awful production so that a relatively small number can enjoy it live

You wanna see them in the flesh? Go to one of the shows on the tour then

This show really made me feel queasy and uneasy. The camera was shocking how it zoomed in and out and up and down all over... and the sound was a disgrace! All the mikes were picking up reverb and echos in the enormous space. Bloody AWFUL!

Was the worst SCD I have ever seen

100% agree with you Jan! I was there too and it was a wonderful event - truly brilliant - (not so much the dancing lol!) but like you, I don't think one week out of the whole series is too much to bear.

No it's never enough. Anything that raises more money is good in my book. That takes priority over how the show comes over on TV.

The number of people on this forum who have threatened to stop watching but they never do, they prefer to keep on moaning!

I agree. I'm glad the people who went enjoyed it, but although it obviously worked as a live show, it did not come across well on the telly. SCD is after all meant to be a TV programme!
