The Bruce Springsteen Appreciation Thread!
Josh Pinder
21-11-2011
I have had a look around.....cannot find a thread for The Boss! So i decided to make my own.

This is for general discussion about his work. I have ordered The Essential album for Christmas....have loved the man for a long time and FINALLY getting physical material from him.

So please fans educate me about the world of Springsteen....favourite albums, moments, videos, the upcoming tour.

Lets get psyched!

Bruce is awesome. I don't think I can choose a best album, song/single, whatever. There's just too much good there. One of the best acts ever, in my humble opinion. Another thing I love about him is that I enjoy songs like Radio Nowhere as much as the big hits from the '80s. He's still fantastic.

Bruce is a legend, as are the E Street Band. While I haven't followed Bruce his entire career, it has been for over 30 years my love of his work.
As a live artist no one can touch him. He doesn't do wishy-washy 90 minute sets, he can do for up to four hours.
His early work is simply stunning, especially Born to Run and Darkness on the Edge of Town albums. Bruce has influenced so many artists over his career, and written some truly amazing songs. My personal favourites being Incident on 57th Street and Jungleland. Though listening to Jungleland live now breaks my heart. While Jake Clemons does a sterling job, it's NOT the same as Clarence "Big Man" Clemons doing the solo.

It's not my description - I think it was Nick Hornby - but Thunder Road with it's 'achingly pretty piano, and wheezy harmonica' - is the best intro ever in rock n roll for me. 'Show a little faith, there's magic in the night' is probably one of the greatest lines too. So much promise. A mate of mine listens to that song every time he leaves his house, and he's the happiest bloke I know. Mind you, his wife's stunning...

Love The Boss. Favourite albums would be Darkness on the Edge of Town, Born to Run and Nebraska. The last three albums have been pretty damn good too though.

I'm in. There is so much more to Bruce than 'Born In The USA' (although I still love that too).

I saw him at Wembley in the summer. He was excellent.

I just reaquainted myself with The Boss as I dusted off the 'Tracks' compilation (a 4 CD Box set released in 1998) and i'm glad I did.
It has many stand out tracks, Iceman, Shut Out The Light, Part Man Part Monkey and Brothers Under The Bridge to name a few. It also has a very nice version of Born In The USA
