She didn't deal with her fame that great and had personal problems. She had to find herself
It's all explained in her amazing Unplugged album.

Everything is Everything was brilliant and in a way a decade ahead of its time. You could picture Rihanna releasing a song like it now!

It is a phenomenal song, completely agreed!

I think it was the drugs and I'm not sure if it's true, but was she the person that said she didn't want white people buying her music?

Yep 5 children with Bob Marley's son, and then another child with another man, earlier this year.

Wow.

I likeLauryn.....dont have her album yet however...but loved The Fugees too!

I think she said along the lines of "white people wont understand her music" not necessarily white people "shouldnt" buy her music. But still. She had a strong attitude realy.

As people said....she was ahead of the game...Janelle Monae brought me back into Hills attention when she was a noted influece on why Monae is in music etc. And again Monae is ahead of the hip hop game currently i feel. And RIhanna is making music in a similar 90s Hip Hop fused vibe perhaps in recent recordings....Rated R and recently Talk That Talk bring a Lauryn kinda vibe that she did 15 years ago.

Fantastic. Anyway i feel that she can make a big comeback if she wanted to

I think her saying that she would rather a black child died than a white person bought her album, might have had something to do with her demise.

It was never proved Lauryn said that. Only speculated. Only person claimed to hear her say it. She still to this day denies it.

despite just one album, lauryn has become an inspiration for artists like beyonce, christina aguilera, alicia keys, rihanna and adele.

She didn't go on a date with Eminem. Biggest career mistake of her life.

I do believe if she came back, she could really give American R&B a good kick up the backside.

The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill
is vastly overrated if you ask me. I love the song "Turn Your Lights Down Low" from 1999.

I nearly went to see her in concert a couple of years back but decided against it in the end since the tickets were £35 and she'd been getting awful reviews from fans and critics. That paticular show wasn't any different from what I read afterwards.

She's a mess.

Do Wop That Thing is my all time fave video. I just love what she did.

Even if she returned to music now I doubt her album would make waves. I think her moment passed and its a big shame as she could have been the biggest artist on the planet following her first album.

I swear she's been due to release a new album 'next year' every year for the past ten years. I'll believe it when I see it...

I wouldn't be surprised if she never releases another album again, she does seem a bit of a mess. Miseducation is a masterpiece though.
