Such an unfortunate name for any female under a size zero I always thought. But anyway ... Flip me, but she must be hard to live with, considering all that competitiveness business, eh? She just can't seem to LET GO. Imagine life with Fatima. Is there any cure?

I was having a similar conversation with the kids last night, and Firstborn (aged 10) commented that it was odd she was so good at the javelin, as she never lets go!

I think she's nice - but bonkers!

Your Firstborn is a very wise child, Deb.

But honestly, does Fatima never think of anything but competition, and winning? It's a very unhealthy lifestyle. Does she never just, erm .. like .. let go and enjoy other aspects of life? It's a very sad existence for her if not. What a way to live. She needs to LOOSEN UP!

She does seem very single minded, if she feels she's been slighted she fumes about it for ages! She's decided already that she's doing tonight's bug task, if Steph doesn't pick her.....it will be 'moider'!

She needs to relax a bit more and enjoy her time in there, she's better than the whole bunch of them put together.

She comes across as very nerdy to me. Takes things far too seriously

Yes, she does need to lighten up a bit.

She seemed like a nice person, on her other TV apperances.

Maybe she will get a chance to shine as the numbers dwindle.

Some people see their whole life in terms of competiing. We have a family joke that my mother even goes in for competitive nail varnish wearing!!

All the more unfortunate when you've got a moron from some reality show calling you 'fats' all the time.

Saw something on Facebook today, it made me laugh even though it's so wrong:

"I'm sick to death of hearing people slag off Fatima, that's somebody's son for god's sake".

even though i dont really like anthony the comment he made about fatima comparing beat the bugs to the olympics was funny, but that determination she has won her so many medals

Yes. I wish she would let go a bit and relax but I can see she likes to feel in control and there isnt much to do in there which must be frustrating to somebody who likes to keep focused and driven. Noticed several times last night when she says something slightly amusing about somebody else she breaks into a cheeky grin, and her whole face lights up and when she relaxs and has a laugh with the other contestants - I'd like to see more of that side of her. I do really like her but I dont think I could live with somebody being so serious, I'm quite sensitive and think I'd feel on edge that I was doing something wrong the whole time. Also she should have done the memory test last night, she would have aced that, she is so focused I dont think she'd have a problem..she can probably achieve anything she puts her mind to.

You're right Stash, she has a beautiful smile. I wish she would do it more often!

I think when you have lived the life of a top class athlete, competing at the level she did, it must be so difficult to return to 'normal' life. They have no choice but to live, eat, breathe their chosen sport, it affects their whole lifestyle i.e. diet, psychological aspects, training etc. So I understand why it must be difficult to change ,even when such people are no longer competing. The motivation, self discipline, desire to win must have residual effects.

Not sure what all this Fatima-love is about. I find her very humourless, over-sensitive, too competetive and quite self absorbed. My least favourite camp mate.

I like her. She is intelligent, committed, hardworking, a team player, and i like what i see of her values.

Mark is full of humour - he's a shallow idiot
Anthony is sensitive - always whinging and hissy fitting
Sinitta isn't competitive - she is happy to just wimp out.

Are there any campers you think are not self absorbed?

This exactly!

I was firmly in Fatima's corner after reading about her tragic upbringing, found it inspiring and rather amazing that she'd gone on to achieve so much against all the odds.

Fast forward to jungle life and f*ck me what a dullard! This woman takes being focused to whole new level...I want to hold her down and feed her cheesecake and cosmopolitans
