Cat starting to drink a lot
big bro geek

Looking for a bit of help if possible. My cat has just moved back into my flat after being at my parents house for a week when I was on holiday.

The first two nights he done a poo in the living room. Something he's never done. We don't have a litter tray as he does it when out. This morning he was on the bed and started making a baby like crying noise and then was sick a few times. He is now drinking a lot from his bowl, toilet, tap etc. we found this odd as he hardly ever drinks at all but he's doing it a lot just now.

Any ideas what could be wrong?

Cats are very sensitive and hopefully he's just reacting to a change of routine/upheaval which in cats very often shows itself in a visceral reaction (Ie being sick). Do you know what he ate when he was at your parents' house? I'm sure he'll be fine if you just keep an eye on him for a couple of days but if the excessive drinking continues take him to the vet as this can be a sign of kidney problems. Sure he'll be fine once he settles back in though

Thanks, I'll just monitor him over the next few days and if it continues will take him to the vet.

He ate the same food as he normally gets here as I took food with him.

Drinking a lot can be a serious symptom. I'd take him to the vet sooner rather than later.
