Of course, it's not even made by ITV Studios anymore, it's made by Cash and Aherne's company Jellylegs.

That's right, a flm so flimsy it wasn't even in the Radio Times film guide, and worse still the episode of Parkinson scheduled for after it was cancelled because there was a strike the previous week and they couldn't film it. In fact if you look at the Glasgow Heralds from the week before Christmas on Google News you can see they were extemely pessimistic about anything being on at all because of the strike.
Of course Yorkshire were on strike on Christmas Day, so 3-2-1 couldn't be shown on the network and they put on Space 1999 instead, and Yorkshire had to show Eric and Ern in January instead. It also meant that on 21st and 22nd December, all three channels in Yorkshire were off air.
The rest of Christmas Day 1978 on BBC1 was alright, though - the Gen Game, The Sound Of Music, Some Mothers and Mike Yarwood, who of course had won the night the previous year.

They 'ran out of war' as it was rushed through because the show was given notice. Mistake by ITV as the writer wanted to go more slowly.”
Indeed, Anthony Horowitz said Simon Shaps decided to axe it and said he wouldn't commission any more after the last three, hence their dart through the last year.
