This is what the BBC has for Christmas Day at the moment:
Quote:
“3.00pm The Queen's Speech

3.10pm Film : Ratatouille (2007)

4.50pm Shrek the Halls

5.15pm BBC News

5.25pm Weather

5.30pm Jim'll Fix It with Shane Ritchie

6.00pm The Gruffalo's Child

6.30pm Doctor Who

7.30pm Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Special

8.30pm EastEnders

9.30pm Absolutely Fabulous

10.00pm Michael McIntyre's Comedy Roadshow

11.00pm Mrs Brown's Boys ”

I really hope the BBC do not stick with this! The things I don’t like about it are:

Shrek The Halls – AGAIN! Oh come on! It’s getting ridiculous now! If they have to put a repeat, choose something else! The Miranda Christmas Special maybe?

Jim’ll Fix It – Oh God, when this was first announced, I thought this would be some filler for a slot opposite Corrie in between 27th and 30th, not Christmas Day prime time!

Absolutely Fabulous – This has never been a massive hit and it’s Christmas Specials have never rated brilliantly, I think it would be a lot better to put Royal Bodyguard in that slot.
If ITV are to go with their rumoured schedule, I’d go for this.

15:00 The Queen

15:10 FILM: Ratatouille

16:50 BBC News/Weather

17:00 Miranda

17:30 The Gruffalo’s Child

18:00 Doctor Who

19:00 Michael McIntyre’s Christmas Special

20:00 Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Special

21:00 EastEnders

22:00 The Royal Bodyguard

22:30 Mrs Brown’s Boys

Interesting set of drama ratings. Are there more new drama series than we'd get in a typical year? Seems a large number of new dramas.

Will we get another update to the Xmas fortnight listings on Monday, or will there be nothing more until the final update on Tuesday?

So far this year, there have been 52 different peak time dramas on BBC1 and ITV1. This will rise to about 59-60 once the year is out and December dramas are included. That'll be more than the 56 peaktime dramas on the two channels last year. This is sort of expected given that the two channels usually have slightly less drama in World Cup years (i.e. 2010) due to some of their programming budget shifting to sport. However the 59/60 this year, is a drop from the 66 dramas in 2009 and 70-odd dramas in 2008.

Christmas Day on BBC1 looks like crap.

I really can't face Jim'll Fix It with Shane Richie on Christmas Day. Michael McIntyre at 10pm? That's not Christmas Day fare to me.

Yes there should be. We normally get a 90% accurate update the day before deadline day, and I'd imagine this week will be no different.

I do agree to an extent with the previous poster that the BBC ONE schedule lacks punch on Christmas Day as things stand. Hopefully The Royal Bodyguard makes it into the schedule, because at the moment there's very little to tempt me away from a movie marathon that night.

I think they do need to stick with Ab Fab, simply because BBC1 always brings back a big comedy on Christmas Day - they've done it for years and years now and I don't think they should break that tradition.

However, a few years ago they did run EastEnders at 9pm for an hour and I seem to remember it working quite well.

Within Downton on ITV1, I think that is their safest bet - so I would run EE and 9 and Ab Fab at 10, potentially Michael McIntyre or Mrs Browns Boys after that.

It's not perfect, but it'll have to do with no Royle Family and no time to commission anything else.

I don't think the Royal Bodyguard should be on Christmas Day - its a brand new show. Yes it worked for Come Fly With Me, but that felt at home in a 10pm slot, and was airing after another big comedy.

How about dramas beginning their first runs this year? Has it been an unusually high number of debuts or par for the course?

I was just gonna edit my previous post after I re-read your question about it being new dramas !

In terms of new dramas, there's been 24 new dramas so far this year on peak time BBC1 and ITV1 - this will rise to about 30 once the year is out. By my reckoning: in 2010, there were 27 new dramas. In 2009, there were 32 new dramas. In 2008, there were 43 new dramas.

I didn't word my post very well.

This year is pretty much in line with the last two years, then. 2008 was a bumper year!

Substitute "song" with "dance" and you have Strictly. Prefix with "ice" and you have Dancing on Ice.

Indeed when you think about it practically all entertainment and studio formats are essentially a handful of elements repeated as often as they can get away with it.

I feel totally the opposite to you on Ab Fab/ The Royal Bodyguard. Ab Fab may be a well known show but has as many people who dislike as love it. I feel it has limited appeal.

The Royal Bodyguard has unlimited appeal in a sense. Its new, with a national treasure as the star and will probably be more suited to family viewing.

There's still room for both onthe big day but Royal Bodyguard would be on in the better slot if I were in charge.

I think Ab Fab would be suited for Boxing Day and swapping with Royal Bodyguard. Still think Comedy Roadshow is out of place on Christmas Day, who wants to see stand up on Christmas Day? Mrs Brown's Boys IMO is on far too late, think it should just air on Boxing Day or have it moved forward to 10pm or 10.30pm.

oh I think X-Factor is alot more faked than Strictly, if Strictly is faked at all.

Talking of X-Factor that Janet Devlin maybe not be able to remember her words, but she is one hot babe.

Georged123 young people wont watch something called "The Royal Bodyguard" the title suggests a show which will rate better with older viewers.

The Mirror says Danni Minogue & David Walliams to be new judges on Britains Got Talent.

Amanda Holden returns for the live shows with guest judges for the auditions.

and

Matt Barbet & Sian Williams for Daybreak ?

David Kermode bringing Matt Barbet with him to Daybreak is an interesting possibility.

That would be a pretty big blow for 5 News. But he might feel it's the right time to move on with the programme relaunching again in February.

Dannii pretty much confirmed she had been asked to do BGT by her reaction on Alan Carr last week I thought.

I think her and David are great choices. Would have been better with a clean slate and replacing Amanda, but I guess they couldn't get rid of her now she's pregnant or that would look pretty dodgy - whether she had a contract or not.

I don't think The X Factor is fake enough this year - they've let too much go so reality is settling in.

Syco have to get Britain's Got Talent right this year; they can't afford a poor year off the back of a weak X Factor to reignite the Cowell brand. If Britain's Got Talent starts to dip as well then they'd have to pull out all the stops to try and recover The X Factor next autumn. If Britain's Got Talent does well (and I think David Walliams and Dannii Minogue will be a shrewd choices if they can get them on board) then X Factor may get some goodwill directed towards it - especially with a panel revamp.

Matt's been at the helm at 5 News for a while and he's proven he's a capable presenter when he covered Kaplinsky before getting the 5pm gig, think Emma Crosby will move to 5pm if he goes to Daybreak but TBH I'd rather he stayed with 5 News or go to BBC News.

With 2011 Australian ratings season closing and now entering the summer season, Seven has again won the week. This makes Seven their perfect 40-week victory.

Yes, but the Hit to Flop ratio in 2008 I bet was leaning in the Flop direction.

Apart from the fact that is out of date and DigiGuide has updated since, the (more up to date) information has been regurgitated several times already in this thread.

Can comeone explain the appeal of Dannii Minoque to me? How does she keep managing to land all these jobs? Does she own the world's largest collection of lucky rabbit's feet?
