I was going to ask the same about David Walliams. Dannii was a good judge on X Factor, very fair. Not sure if Mr Walliams will be too much of a loose cannon...

Last night’s #Strictly was the highest rating show across all channels, averaging 10.6m viewers and a 42.2% share. #SCD #BBC1

#Strictly's peak audience of 11.7m was the highest figure of the day across all channels. #SCD #BBC1

#Merlin went up to 6.0m/23%

Strictly down quite a bit on last week but still winning the day is surprising.

X Factor really isn't doing very well.

Like many husbands, I suffer it. If wife wasn't home, I wouldn't switch it on (same for X-Factor, Jungle, BGT etc.). I am extremely fortunate that my wife doesn't watch any of the soaps or 'continuing dramas'!!

The HD PQ for SCD is excellent though, but the DD5.1 sound is dreadful!!

The PQ on the ITV2 HD repeats of X-Factor is so much better than the ITV1 HD broadcast.

Surprising to see Strictly lose that much week on week. It was also down -0.7m on the same show last year, despite a better timeslot. Still a great rating though, and it seems to have won the night again so they won't be complaining.

Doesn't bode well for X Factor.

Does anyone know anything about this show? All I've seen is some location shots where Jason is seen wearing a stupid wig.

Part of Jason's appeal, is even though his characters are different, he always looks the same!! Whether it's Frost, Pop Larkin, Granville or Del Boy.

What timeslot was it made for? Any trailers seen yet?

There was a focus group viewing a couple of weeks ago which apparently the BBC were using to decide if it got a Christmas Day slot.

Not that surprising. Last week was the much hyped Wembley Arena special. Also Russell Grant has been voted off.

I agree, they'd be better off without her but it sounds like she's only going to be doing the live shows anyway. David and Dannii will be really good - Dannii is better on AGT than she was on X Factor anyway. I also notice that Ashley Banjo is apparently going to be filling in for Amanda for the auditions. I actually hope they get him for the whole series (with Amanda as a 4th judge on the lives) as he's really good on Got To Dance and the former winner aspect could work.

Subo would be a better guest judge

With 2011 Australian ratings season closing and now entering the summer season, Seven has again won the week. This makes Seven their perfect 40-week victory.”

I remember when I started following the Australian ratings a few years back, one of the things I liked was how close it was between the big three.

Not these days! It's been a total breeze for Seven this year.

Done a search on that page, all I can find is:-

“Sir David Jason is back in a comedy role on BBC One for the first time in 20 years leading the cast of The Royal Bodyguard...”

Amanda has said she's doing auditions as well. My guess is that they'll have 4 judges for the series: Amanda, David, Dannii. And for the 4th judges spot, it'll probably be a guest for the auditions, and then Simon Cowell filling in during the live week.

David and Dannii will probably ensure good figures for BGT this year.

If Amanda is doing the auditions then I expect you're right. I'm not sure how she's going to do them though if she's due to give birth around the time that they take place. Also, I really think Simon Cowell should either come back for the whole series or not appear at all as whilst him returning for the live week worked as a one off stunt last year, I think it'd just disrupt the flow of the series if he keeps doing it, especially if the new judges do well at the auditions.

Looks like it was closer than last week between XF and SCD, and it may even be neck and neck with +1. Still poor for TXF though, which just isn't gaining any momentum now.

Ouch. That's a staggering -25% down on last year. No momentum whatsoever. They will be so glad when this series is over.

I believe last night is the first time then, that even including +1, X Factor is also down on the equivalent show in 2008 as well as 2009 and 2010, and not far ahead of 2007 excluding +1:

1st December 2007: 9.42m (38.5%)
29th November 2008: 11.88m (46.1%)
28th November 2009: 12.3m (47.8%)
27th November 2010: 13.6m (49%)
26th November 2011: approx 9.9m exc. +1 / 10.2m inc. +1

Once again, incredibly proud of the #bbcf1 team. No title to be fought for buy yesterday's audience was up on 2010. I cracking 3.4m #thanks Really happy with that, an audience of many millions is what motivates me!

And the above from Dancc really puts The X Factor into perspective. Ouch.
