Eternal Law is out on DVD on 13 February so that'll be on in early January. Wild at Heart and Take Me Out will be back in January, and The Exit List will probably air then too. I won't be surprised to see Primeval burned off on Tuesdays at 8pm. I had thought The Biggest Loser would air in January again but one of the trainers on the show sadly died last week, so I'm not sure what's going on there, as I don't know if it's been filmed or not, and if Angie was involved in it if it has been filmed.

Kidnap and Ransom should be ready for January, with Case Sensitive later in the Spring. Benidorm should also be back in February. Monroe is coming back but I don't think it'll be ready until the second half of the year.
Also Endeavour is out on DVD on 9th January so it looks like it'll air in the first week of the New Year.

I wouldn't put it past them. Tomorrow is the day of the year when we often see ITV at its worst.
The BBC provisional schedule is a mess. I'm not holding my breath that they will sort it after last year feeling reassured that these were just holding drafts designed to keep their powder dry. I was dumbstruck when they were largely confirmed.
So I expect the same tomorrow. Quite why they apparently want to gift Christmas Day and Boxing Day victories to ITV is beyond me.

To be fair to the BBC, if ITV air 90 minutes of soap they're going to find it hard to win Boxing Day anyway. The best chance they have is to weaken the drama at 9 by airing EastEnders there.
ITV have something of a spoiler in Downton Abbey - that's where the fun and games will really come into play as ITV1 will try and shape a schedule where Downton gets a headstart on a 'late' EastEnders while BBC One will try to clash EastEnders directly with it to weaken it as much as possible. I don't think either channel will want a soap clash.

As for family drama Lapland, I wonder if they keep pushing it back in the schedule so it does actually get a Christmas Day airiing!
Of course, what we don't yet know but the scheduling idiots will, is how good or bad these new shows are. For all we know, Lapland might be the biggest pile of poop to air in 2011. Hence the graveyard slot. Or it may not be a family drama at all. I mean, Shameless is "a family drama", but in a different sense.

I listen to Radio 2 a fair amount, no one at the BBC was ever picked first in PE lessons, certainly not if Radio 2 DJs are anything to go by.

ITV's schedule was decided the minute they commissioned the special - 2 hours of soap, 2 hours of Downton. The easiest to assemble and most uninspiring Christmas Night line up ever (even 1993 did, at least, offer a varied package of movies!)
DA will air at 9pm, it was decided months ago and they won't change it no matter what the BBC do.
I posted last night 3 alternative BBC1 schedules which avoid soap clashes and give high profile BBC1 programmes the best slots they can get.
It can be done.

ITV1 have tried this approach before with Doc Martin and that didn't exactly work. IF BBC One schedule right, then I can see Downton only claiming 6m on the overnights, though it should timeshift well.
But I don't think Downton at 9 is a shoe in. ITV1 should be flexible with it to try and get it the best possible position on the night.

It's no worse the BBC starting with their trio of Who, Strictly, Eastenders in every Christmas Day schedule. What is it 6 years now ?
At least ITV are offering something genuinely different this year with Downton.
Anyway, how does it all work ? All the horse trading could go on indefinitely between ITV and BBC. Somebody must have to show their hand first and stick to the schedule. Are there lots of phone calls and trade offs between the respective channel controllers ?

You need to check out the master...Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce, I have the boxset - the whole series is effortless. Benedict is good as Holmes, Martin Freeman is not bad as Watson.
Excellent rating for St Trinian's on Sunday.

DVD releases can change but I think Endeavour will likely ger either NYD or the 8th January, even if it faces Sherlock, I can see it pulling in a decent audience, I think 5-6m will guarantee it get a series order, it's not going to hit the 11m that Lewis got for its pilot episode.
Speaking of Lewis, is the upcoming series meant to be the final one?

Who, Strictly and Eastenders are three very different programmes though, Emmerdale, Corrie and Downton Abbey, are similar, Downton, the second series anyway, is very soap-y. That's my opinion, a couple of here will certainly disagree.

The BBC want 2 single Episodes of EastEnders, That was stated earlier this year. Maybe they have put Enders against Corrie on purpose to get ITV to move their soaps so the BEEB can get what they want.Id run strictly against DA actually.
Given and EastEnders lead-in it could do very well and with SCD doing very well this series it could actually win the slot

They could've aired one on Christmas Eve (hopefully they'll restructure the schedule so EastEnders and Outnumbered have the 9pm hour), one of Christmas Day (instead of Comedy Roadshow) and one on, say, New Years Day to finish off the Christmas fortnight.

Actually that's the sort of thing the schedule needs - it used to be worth buying the Christmas TV guide as you needed it to find the shows over Christmas. Lately it's the same shows in the same slots as always, with the odd extra gem fitted around the soaps on the Bank Holidays themselves.
Am I right in thinking too that in the past when Christmas Day has fallen on a non-soap day ITV would usually drop an episode somewhere else in the schedules - while the BBC just lays on the misery with more and more and more and more EastEnders. Christmas Day is just about bearable - but no need at all for it on Christmas Eve and it is rather shoe horned into the provisional schedules.

Maybe they have decided to air them as a mini-series on Saturdays in January?
Seems odd to put them in your Christmas highlights press pack and less than a week later drop them from your provisional schedules completely. Everything else they announced is in.

It appeared as though they were hoping the BBC would schedule EE 7pm-8pm. I don't think that's going to work out for them though.
