If Up were to be included in the schedule, I think it would be in the press pack, think it's been saved for next Christmas as will HTTYD. Think BBC One will save Toy Story 3 and pair it with Shrek Forever After in 2013, that would be a huge ratings banker.
Alice in Wonderland will likely get a primetime slot on either Christmas Eve or Boxing Day, I liked it but it got a mixed reception from critics.
I appreciate B.A.R.B. offers free ratings data, and I am sure many of us are very grateful - yet almost every evening at midnight it shuts down, maybe they have heaps of data to upload for subscribers, but it just does not load............. a slight annoyance......

Can't believe they got the terrestrial rights to Thundercats, I assumed it end up on CITV. I think they should bring back NGA on Saturday and Sunday Afternoons with action and boy centric cartoons such as Green Lantern and Young Justice.

I love how certain people have questioned whether or not DA is suitable for Christmas Day... clearly British people have warped taste in festive programming when Eastenders is the annual highlight!

And it might just end up providing tabloid writers with something bigger to beat them with (e.g: Downton Abbey finished 6th on Christmas Day). It seems a bit like the programming people wishing they were in a BBC world while the accountants pull their hair out.

How To Train Your Dragon was also a 2010 release. As were both Shrek 4 and Alice in Wonderland. Monsters vs. Aliens (which airs on Christmas Day this year) was a 2009 release. The year alone probably isn't the greatest guide to when these films are available for the BBC it probably helps to know a month as well. So as a point of reference

I think I've said this before but actually I'm not sure this is entirely true. The advertising world isn't the same as it was a decade ago so there's no reason Christmas Day has to be a dead zone for advertising. ITV really have to be approaching this as the first step of a long term plan though for that to work They'd need to stop loading the pre-Christmas period with so many big hitters (so advertisers still have money to spend) and they'd have to have sustained effort and success on the day itself to get advertisers to bite.

Terrestrial premeries have definetly shortened the time to get to television minimum for a major film is 18 months, Channel 4 were showing Summer 2009 films over the last few months, the exception being Saint Trinians and The Golden Compass but I think that may have to do with the distributor.
Disney and Pixar films tend to take longer to premiere on TV compared to Disney's live action films and Dreamworks Animation which tend to be 18 months to 3 years. A Christmas Carol and The Princess and the Frog are also due to have their terrestrial premiere but I imagine neither they won't get Christmas Day.
Would BBC One risk showing Alice in Wonderland on Christmas Day? it's been a long time since they've shown a live action film on the day.

If people do watch Downton Abbey ahead of EastEnders, then the EastEnders repeat has been very nicely scheduled.
So, fans of both could either:
a) watch both on ITV1 and BBC3 going to bed at 00:05
b) watch both on BBC1 and ITV1 +1 going to bed at 00:05
c) watch both on BBC1 and ITV1 using PVR going to bed at 23:35 approx.
Don't forget the audience demographics are wildly different so it's not out the question for both to record good overnights.

A Christmas Carol (the Jim Carrey version) only premiered on Sky Movies last week.
A lot of Disney/Pixar movies get their first pay window on Disney Cinemax (part of the Sky Movies sub), and then go to Sky Movies.

Of course there are many like me who watch Downton, but don't watch TV on Christmas Day.
So the timeshifting should be higher than normal.

What if the programmes on Christmas Day on BBC1 start maybe a tad earlier than usual so maybe EastEnders goes out at 8:57 instead of 9pm for whatever reason; could this stop people from switching to Downton? It could end up denting EE's ratings as it would run into the end of Corrie.

Given the odd 2h5m slot for DA, I reckon CS will air past 9pm to screw EE, and DA will start at 9.05, probably with no ads between CS and DA.
