was last nights Corrie a needless extra ep, I thought it was just Monday's second ep which was rudely shunted to Tuesday by I'm not a Celebrity.

That Corrie figure should probably wade ITV off from ever thniking of putting Corrie on Tuesdays regularly, Holby did fairly well against it.

How does Im A Celeb compare to the same stage last year?

Corrie comes third out of the big three!

When did that last happen?!

At least it edged out Holby City...

It's had 11m against Holby before, when viewers could be bothered to find it.

In fairness though that's because nobody is going schedule A Christmas Carol to premiere in the middle of July. That would be crazy. In fact I'm a little surprised Sky didn't delay the first airing until December although it is a terrible film and probably not something they'd want front and centre in the Christmas period (BBC please take note for next year).

On a movie related note who got the FTA rights for Avatar? That must surely be coming up for a screening soon.

There's only 1 time in recent history it had 11m against Holby, and I'm not sure that's a really valid comparison...

Some new commissions from BBC3.

Personally I think that's a bit harsh. I thought it was okay. Nothing will beat the original of course but it was a decent enough retelling.

It's Fox so should be Channel 4. That will be big for them, although it's hard to imagine there's that many people out there who haven't seen it yet.

Not sure about that. I think there were other factors like people not knowing it was on. If it was routinely there and advertised it would be different.

Can't believe they didn't even mention it at the end of Monday night's episode though. They only have themselves to blame for last night's low rating.

Nothing about a recommission for "the fades"

Avatar should do well, its a bit long though at 162 minutes which would over 3 hours with ads.

Big films of 2009 which haven't been aired are Angels and Demons, The Hangover, Terminator Salvation, Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince and Sherlock Holmes. Seven Pounds hasn't aired but will probably be on Channel 5 next year.

Hasn't Seven Pounds already premiered on Freeview via Sky3 during one of Sky's free sample weekends?

EDIT: Having searched DigiGuide, it would appear not. Must have been a different title.

IAC is down about 2 million on this time last year. However, last year the country was paralysed by snow and ice, so maybe you can factor in this. Yet a few fans I talk to say IAC is getting stale and the supply of celebs is drying up, which might account for the drop.
It does beg the question of what ITV can replace the show with as the format of IAC is rather dated and all of its contemporaries, barring Shipwrecked, which barely figures on E4, have long since gone.

Only films that have aired on that weekend were I Am Legend and Body of Lies IIRC.

its going nowhere anywhere soon, so hold that thought

anyway IACGMOOH has never used A list celebs - the whole point of it is the celebs are on their uppers and trying to revive their careers. Thats why it works.

The equivalent episode last year had 8.5m. The y-o-y drop for that episode and the series as a whole has been more like -0.5m.

a lot of which is down to bad luck in losing Freddie Starr so early.

I know it's not ratings, but does anyone know what the AI was for 'Merlin' on Saturday? It's been such a controversial episode with fans, I wondered.

If this the wrong thread to ask on, please ignore me!

It still gets decent ratings, but there will come a time when it needs to be replaced, same as any show, barring the soaps. However, for now it still does well, but last year there was the snow factor which bumped up ratings for the biggest shows by 2 million.

I agree with your earlier statement - IAC doesn't need celebs
Freddie Star made little difference - and its ratings are once again great. Thing with IAC, for every viewer who gets bored and leaves, another who did the same a few years back comes back and enjoys it all over again!

Its a strong show for ITV. As ever the only danger would be if the hosts change (there arn't many who could create the energy Ant and Dec do).

Its a strong show and is going to be around for some time to come.

On last night - dunno what went on with Corrie there. Probably a blip. Those mentioning Holby, the plus one would be higher if it were playing a part. Just people not watching.
IAC doing well without it anyway.

I'm a Celeb is up on last year by 1.5 million 'in like for like terms' then?

Are you not artificially limiting the scale of the drop by including the +1 instant repeat in the 2011 figures?

What's the like for like comparison?

At 10 years old I'm A Celeb is doing fine business, it's incredibly resiliant.

Nothing else can guarantee ITV1 bumper ratings of around 8m on a nightly basis over 3 weeks in the key run-up to Christmas.
