Mr Ed the talking horse, brilliantly spoofed as Mr Dead, the talking corpse by Harry Enfield and Paul Whitehouse.

The idea of a talking dog doing the news probably could work as a radio sketch. But TV kills it dead.

It is worrying if this is the standard of light ent. the BBC are interested in.

Probably won't be commisioned to series though...

Maybe they have found a dog that really talks?

If Tim Brooke Taylor is involved, it may well be surreal enough to actually work.

Intriguing...

Ester Rantzen's "sausages" dog must be getting on a bit now.

Although that turned out to be faked the inn ocence of tv in the days before Ofcom

BBC One had a poor night - EastEnders is really suffering from the clash with Emmerdale once again. BBC Two did well with MasterChef which further questions BBC One's scheduling. ITV1 had a good night; though I'm A Celebrity... looks low if DS' rating is the correct one. All About Amy was not scheduled well IMO and it has a long wait until January for the Celebrity Big Brother boost. Channel 4 had a decent night until 10pm, where The Joy Of Teen Sex obviously turned people off.

Speaking of which, CBB is apparently back on 4th January (According to a press pack which some press members received and have been tweeting about today).

Bodes well for Downton on Christmas Day. Downton is more 'unmissable' than EE.

At one time Channel 5 looked to be like ITV1, now it seems they want to be like ITV2 with their celeb dross. The ratings aren't much higher than ITV2 thesedays either.

Unusual drop for I'm a Celeb last night, but good rating for Emmerdale. EastEnders rating is very poor however.

That would fit in with the 17th December start date for the promo campaign which Marcus has tweeted about.

Although do note it's provisional at this stage and last time Channel 5 made a switch in the finals following an attempted spoiler by Channel 4.

Pfft, Channel 5 is comfortably beating ITV2 across all but about 2 or 3 slots in the week.

But they are having a very poor time of it at the moment, no doubt about it. I can only identify The Mentalist and the Europa Football as particularly strong parts of the schedule at the moment, which is worrying since one of those won't be a part of the lineup for much longer.

On the plus side, Amy's show tanking makes it highly unlikely they will keep commissioning such dross. They have to get the message eventually.

EastEnders will have the BBC Christmas Day bounce; a much better lead in than last night and a storyline hyped to beggary. Downton will perform reasonably well but I'll be amazed if it beats EastEnders.

I just don't get the mindset of launching Amy's show off the back of a crime drama. They were struggling to find programming that'd tap into the Big Brother demographic outside of The Bachelor, and now they have some which may hold up they're burning off episodes away from that lead in.

Unlike last night, it won't start halfway through Downtonation Street either...

I think the idea was probably to try and keep the 16-34s with Channel 5 whilst BB was off air with a few specific programmes. But since Tamara's show never caught on to say the least, it hasn't really worked. They mostly left way back at 10:29pm on Friday 11th November and only return fleetingly if a good movie is on!

I don't think Channel 5 is strong enough for one show to hold it's own surrounded by a different schedule - maybe other than Big Brother. They need complimentary scheduling rather than going for one audience, then another.

Poor for EastEnders last night even considering the clash to go that low. I'm a Celebrity a bit low too. Not sure why.

1130-1345: Matt Baker or Hazel Irvine or Clare Balding
1345-1600: Jake Humphrey or Hazel Irvine or Clare Balding
1600-1900: Sue Barker
1900-2235: Gary Lineker
2235-2400: Gabby Logan”

I suspect the schedule will be a combination of:

Scenario 1
06:00 - Olympics Breakfast
09:00 - London 2012
13:00 - BBC News at One
13:30 - BBC Regional News
13:45 - London 2012
22:00 - BBC News at Ten
22:25 - BBC Regional News
22:35 - London 2012

Scenario 2
06:00 - Olympics Breakfast
09:00 - London 2012
11:25 - BBC News
11:30 - London 2012
13:30 - BBC News
13:40 - BBC Regional News
13:45 - London 2012
18:55 - BBC News
19:00 - London 2012
22:15 - BBC News
22:30 - BBC Regional News
22:35 - London 2012

Obviously they're not going to have a day with no News bulletins on BBC One so it'll be a combination of both scenarios on every day, depending on what action there is on that day or what news stories there are that don't concern London 2012

I thought Amy Childs was guasrtenned at least 1 million when the show was launched.

Channel 5 are struggling at the moment. This was supposed to be a big year for them.

Oh the irony, of course ITV1 was airing a ground breaking documentary yesterday between 8.30-10.

Which of course means the Olympics will be a reported ratings damp squib, Opening Ceremony apart, as no one broadcast will average anything in the mega proportions, even if certain events get done awesome peaks.

I do reckon the Opening Ceremony of the London games will be in the 15-20m zone and is clearly THE tv event of 2012!

I'm glad Amy flopped, now hopefully it'll send the message to both Jeff Ford and Richard Desmond that these celeb documentaries are not working! If the celebrity issues docs are flops then all the better! I like Channel 5 but I think this isn't helping the channel at all!

The evening sessions on some days should do very well though.

Plus, I would be surprised if BBC One was not recording all-day shares of over 30% on some days.

i agree. But if England get to the final of Euro 2012 that could change imo

The 7.22m for I'm a Celebrity excludes HD, 7.91m includes HD. Also:

Ed_StarOnSunday
Just had an email from BBHQ - Celebrity Big Brother is back on January 4 #cbb
2 hours ago

Also, according to some reality people on Twitter, Jason Gardiner and Emma Bunton have been dropped on Dancing on Ice..... replaced by Louie Spence......
