The FA Cup 3rd Round Draw (with the big boys entering the competition) will be at around 2.40pm on ITV1. That channel and ESPN keeping their fingers crossed.

I'm surprised we haven't seen or read more about TRB given it's a big new comedy featuring David Jason launching in a plum-ish festive slot. And that concerns me a bit, as the stuff that's generally shite doesn't get promoted with actual clips, preview DVDs to journalists etc.
I'm hoping it's a cracker, simply because I like genuine, proper, mainstream comedy (as opposed to comic drama) and it's tragic we've had such a dearth of it for so long - but there are signs of a revival on BBC1 with TRB, Miranda, Mrs Brown etc. So fingers crossed...
Looking at some of the TV Programs that are on Next year, and the events it seems that next year could be a huge year for the terrestrial channels.

Best of TV Burp did no worse than the rest of this series. Nice rating for a ITV2s Im a Celeb... Extra show, makes the Xtra Factor look bad.
Channel 5 just looks uninspiring. Same could be said for Casualty recently as well.

It does look rather neglected, out on a limb in a not great slot on BBC2 when just 12 months ago it was getting 6m on Christmas Eve on BBC1, winning its slot.
It's a great BBC show, still funny and distinctive. It needs to come back to BBC1 in 2012, and in a decent slot (not opposite Corrie), and find its audience again.

I think in the interests of public order, that will need to kick off at 11.30am...
Big numbers for that one then if it airs in primetime. But it means one of the top two clubs will go out at the first time of asking. And you'd probably favour City in that clash - which won't be good news for "MUTV1".

Unbelievable draw that. On the face of it a brilliant one for ITV as most of the rest is pretty drab.
However United could go out of two cups now and ITV's love affair with them might be curtailed this year.

BECAUSE ITV+1 IS A DIFFERENT BLOODY CHANNEL!!! Why not include BBC2's ratings to BBC1's? That way you could say that during 7 until 8 last night, BBC1 had near on 14 million viewers.
People who watched X-Factor on ITV1 are the figures that should count towards the overnights when comparing them to another channels. It is appropriate to say that "Another million or so viewers watched it on ITV+1". It is not a true accurate like for like comparison.

Your example is a nonsense, BBC Two IS a different channel to BBC One, in that it shows different programmes.
If I watched X Factor on a PVR 1 hour after broadcast, it would be included in the overnight ITV1 figures, so why not lump the +1 figures in too ?
It's just a different example of timeshifting.

But +1 channels are different channels. If they were merely seen a 'timeshifting' channels, then BARB would include those ratings in with the main channel. Alas, they don't and the ratings for +1 are counted separately.
With regards to the PVR example you give, that is an example of timeshifting because it would be a recording from the actual channel hence why they are included in the official ratings.

No. It's not an accurate like for like to add on the ITV+1 figures. OK my example may have been a little daft, but it just really annoys me that people want to inflate a programmes ratings by adding on the figures of a +1 channel. If BBC1 had a +1 (which they are not allowed to have) I bet there'd be plenty condemning the adding on of figures from both BBC1 and BBC1+1 in order to inflate the ratings of a programme! Timeshifting is one thing, but to just add on figures from a different channel is not a fair and accurate way of combining overnights, especially as the channel it is being compared to is disadvantaged by not being able to offer the same facility.
It's about "like for like". That is what's fair.

Exactly. I may criticise BARB's reporting methodology from time to time, but they are bang on here.
Another example is when Corrie aired its live episode last year (or 2009?); they aired it at 8pm and repeated it at 10.35pm on ITV1 the same night, which IIRC got about 2m viewers.
I don't think anyone seriously suggested it was right to inflate the 8pm showing by 2m viewers and say "wow, 14m watched Corrie last night" by lumping in the repeat, even though that would be no different to people watching it on ITV1+1 (which didn't then exist) or PVRing it to view later that night.

Actually I agree with you! But, i will add that ALL +1 channels are a waste of space, especially on FREEVIEW as it limits the opportunities for other channels to arrive. I disregard and loath +1 channels. If I had access to Room 101, all +1 channels would be going in there!

The difference is the same ads are shown on the +1 screening. This is not the case with repeats. It doesnt help that you deliberately mis-use words for your own ends of course.
