Seriously, Robbie, do you expect ITV to put on a repeat of HIgh Stakes against The Royal Bodyguard just to please you?

It's a Bank Holiday. Why shouldn't ITV1 stick a big new drama on in that slot?

No programme should be afraid of a bit of competition. Look how well Merlin and Antiques Roadshow still do against the not-as-mighty-as-it-used-to-be-but-still-powerful X Factor.

The Royal Bodyguard stars one of our biggest TV stars. If it's any good it should be as tough a competiton for Endeavour as Endeavour is for it. And if it's crap, then let it die a quick death.

Don't be ridiculous. I'm simply saying that ITV laid a trap and the BSI seem to have fallen into it. Of course ITV should launch Endeavour in the best possible slot. I'm a fan of the franchise myself, so I too want it to succeed.

Such utter nonsense/spin, the BBC schedulers would have predicted that it was going to swap.
Do you really think the BBC were expecting ITV to launch it after filler when they had a prime Bank Holiday monday slot with a Corrie lead in a few days previously.

I don't see the issue of a drama-comedy clash on Bank Holiday Monday. Both will be fine (assuming, in The Royal Bodyguard's case, it's any good).


Hmm. I was wondering whether this would have been sent into the week to accommodate The Voice. Evidently not, which makes me think we won't be seeing The Voice until afterwards.

7 episodes of The Magicians takes them 7th Jan - 18th Feb. Then 5 episodes of Let's Dance runs up from 25th Feb through until Sports Relief weekend on 24th March. Leaving The Voice starting on the 31st.

Not a good move, if it works out that way. Britain's Got Talent will be back very quickly and then it winds up getting battered around by BGT week, Eurovision, the Champions League Final and perhaps even the Jubilee in late May and early June.

A mixture of some huge successes like Downton Abbey and Doc Marten and some embarassing flops such as the woeful summer LE shows that have dragged them down a bit. However, compared to the wasteland the station was in the noughties, ITV1 is a lot better, if still nowhere near as good as the glory days of the eighties.

The next series of 'The Jonathan Ross Show' is going to be 12 episodes, running from Saturday 7th January to 24th March.

I believe that the Alright On The Night is a repeat of the edition shown the previous Wednesday at 9pm. If this is true then...

I did think a primetime repeat for a 4 day old programme was a bit strange. I mean, I know everyone's supposed to be partying on New Year's Eve but still.....

The Voice auditions will be recorded during January, but the studio shows are during April / May with the final, the final weekend of May.

You can expect some of the auditions shows at the same time as LDFSR...

Any news on when Birdsong is due to air? My guess would be 22nd and 29th January after Sherlock has finished its run. Empire I think will air in February while Upstair Downstairs will be in March.

Let's Dance was getting 7m+ in the overnights this year, so I definitely think they'll initially use that as a lead-in to The Voice. It's too good a lead-in not to take advantage of, especially as Let's Dance skews pretty young which is the kind of audience the BBC will be going for with The Voice. I can see a lineup of something like the following for The Voice auditions in March before BGT is back on ITV1:

18.40- Let's Dance
20.00- The Voice
21.00- Casualty
21.50- National Lottery Draws
22.00- BBC News
22.20- MOTD

It means The Voice will only be facing Take Me Out for its first few weeks. When BGT returns on ITV1 in mid-April in its 8pm slot, BBC1 will probably move The Voice to 7pm as Let's Dance will be over by then anyway.

But isn't the final weekend of May Eurovision weekend? Surely it'll be the weekend before? Looks like there will be a decent number of audition shows if they're running alongside Let's Dance (more than the 2 they had in the US at least).

I read somewhere that Wallander which finishes shooting next week is airing in March.

Think March was the intended airdate but it could be pushed back. Wallander is only three episodes so it could easily air in March with UD airing around Easter, the only other drama is Call the Midwife which is a four parter.

Yup Eurovision Final is 26th May 2012. Also as it may affect 2013 line ups. It has been suggested every country must have a compulsory national final where the public can vote for a song. After the 2010 disaster I'm not sure if the BBC will like being dictated this, or commercial stations across Europe where such finals won't get ratings.

I think we'll see Without You doing well tonight, poor opposition, I can see ~5m to 5.5m myself.

Kudos to Channel 4, that's a really nifty way to mark 30 years of broadcasting, even if the net result is a messy schedule and probably not hugely great ratings. I like it.

I'm glad too that Countdown gets the best slot of the night, seems fitting as the first ever programme shown on the channel.

It's a nice idea but I think it would have been better done across a week but it should do okay.

Million Pound Drop's also on from 7:55pm to 8:15pm. Should make for some interesting ratings that night, I assume some shows will go without breaks.
