Quite possibly the most ridiculous request ever made on these forums...
I own a 14" Philips GR1221 TV (around 10-15yr old perhaps). Connections wise it has just an aerial socket, and the volume is on the way out.
My quest: To somehow find a way to connect external speakers to the TV. Any ideas? All help and input appreciated in advance... |

Well I was thinking about getting a DVD player - I think its fair to say a home theatre setup would be wasted with the TV, but is it possible to just hook up two speakers with the DVD to create a Pro Logic type sound?

You are really onto a loser here. Without a Scart socket on the TV, or a Video with a Scart Socket, your options are extremely limited.
Any magic boxes that you could buy would cost more than the price of a new Tele-video from Tescos. Unfortunately this is one of those things that is only solved with money. |

Isn't there even a headphone socket on the TV?
that will feed a boombox or stereo etc why not take the telly to a electrical repairer - you might find that £20 later you had a working telly again. People just tend to throw stuff away these days. John |

connect dvd to the video. Watch the dvd through the video channel (RF output). Hook up speakers direct from the dvd.

I shouldn't have thought that pjl would even need a video output for that. I'd have thought that it would be possible to hook the DVD player up to a hifi just like anything else, such as a CD player or tape deck or whatever.
You'll also need to make sure that the DVD player you get is capable of sending out RF signals for the telly. But don't worry if it can't, because you can get little adapters that plug into the scart socket that will do it as well. The worst case scenario with any DVD player is that you might have to spend a few quid on extra bits to connect it properly to everything else. Or so I'd have thought .... never tried it myself. |
