It's really not a thing to be viewed as positive or negative, more a necessity. Matt is a songwriter. He can't possibly administer his own writing catalogue, so he signed a publishing deal. Every songwriter will have a publishing deal. It's normal. It's really nothing to fret over!

It is good to see - but puts some perspective on the general level of sales across the industry, if Matt is top 10 on 136K sales to date. Also, although Noel G's album is technically a debut, I am mentally discounting him from the list as he has the whole Oasis fanbase behind him and years of experience producing albums that just makes it seem not a debut at all IMHO.
I made one of my rare lurks on the MF this morning - you are doing your usual fine job of defending Matt on that Rebecca thread. But the bit that made me LOL was when one of the trolls accused Joe of being a Matt fan. Thank god he has a sense of humour - something sorely lacking in so many MF posters.
