Slightly late - here's part 1! I haven't gone into a great deal of detail...

I'm starting to type this on my phone before the show begins (there's no signal in the theatre)

I was not meant to be at this showing of MT, but a combination of people persuaded me that it would be a good idea!! My first thought as I sat down was that I'm going to miss teddy and tricia at the bar (my view was unfortunately slightly restricted, but should be better next time).

My highlights

I loved all the costumes of the wider cast! They've changed from the dvd!
However, i was not keen on Flavia's white cape and gloves in the first half. I'm seriously coveting her gorgeous aqua shoes though!!
I understand where the disagreements over her red patterned dress have come from! I still can't make up my mind on it,

I love the fight scene! Vincent was fab, and Flavia's acting is wonderful when she breaks up the fight.

The people behind me who tried to sing along to 'sway' were driving me crazy (also the person who tried to start clapping during it)

The rumba/tango I knew it was coming, I knew it was going to be emotional, but wow! I was moved to tears, the dress is beautiful, and the two of them are magical - I think my face was an absolute picture by the end. I can't wait to see it again.

The final AT was so beautiful; I'm naturally quite inhibited, and was wondering who it was around me hollering (it was me)

I can't wait to see it again on saturday - there's so much going on in the background, it's so difficult to take it in!

I love Teddy and Tricia - they're fab (and I think they're even better now!)

The woman next to me said she loved the dancing, but wished the singer was singing in english so that she could understand - much to the amusement of the rest of her companions!!!

Lastly: I have never seen V&F live and I'm so glad that I managed to see them! They were mesmerising, and captivated my attention every time they danced, I'm so glad that I managed to get a ticket for tonight!

Hello,

Knock, knock. Just popping in from next door to read your post about Midnight Tango. It sounds amazing and you clearly loved it. Might check if I can get last minute tickets.
Lovely that you will get to see it again.

Great reports SP.

I was much amused about the comment about the singer..... (if he was singing in English, they might as well do a Streetdance show in Peckham....)... English being sung in a club in Buenos Aires.... I dont think so.... (the Argentinians are anti-British - especially with regard to Las Malvinas (Falklands to us)).

Cant wait to see you on Saturday. I have a feeling that my ticket/s will be slightly restricted... (but I dont really care).

Midnight Tango - playlist (for those interested)

Dilly and Molly - this is for you (as well as anyone else interested in sorting out a playlist of the best bits of the Midnight Tango music).

Midnight Tango Music

Links to Amazon as I can't use iTunes at work (although in most cases Amazon mp3s cheaper than iTunes) and in the cases of links (this is the most authentic "MT version" I found)

1 Fuga y Misterio (Astor Piazzolla)
Ensemble Vivant (Audience Favourites)
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Fuga-Y-Miste...2&sr=1-1-spell

2 Derecho Viejo (Eduardo Arolas)
Buenos Aires Tango Trio (Famous Tangos)
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Derecho-viej...7865559&sr=1-7

3 Antes de Puņalada (Jonathan Taylor/Tango Siempre)
Flav and Vincent's first big entrance music
[written for MT and not recorded by TS??]

4 La Puņalada (Pintin Castellanos)
Orquesta Juan D'Arienzo (album same name)
http://www.amazon.co.uk/La-pu%C3%B1a...7865710&sr=1-1
F&V milonga solo

5 Milongueando en el cuarenta (Armando Pontier)
Orquesta A Troilo (Tangos instrumentals para bailar)
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Milongueando...7866086&sr=1-6
group dance after first solo (F&V at bar then eventually join in)

6 A Media Luz (Edgardo Donato)
Tango Siempre (Tangled)
http://www.amazon.co.uk/media-luz-Me...7866135&sr=1-1
Intro of singer and where he flirts with Tricia (ie lipstick)

7 Tango Negro (Juan Carlos Caceres)
Juan Carlos Caceres (From Buenos Aires to Paris)
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Tango-Negro/...7866241&sr=1-2
Bottle group number

8 El Gato Negro (Jonathan Taylor/Tango Siempre)
Tango Siempre (Malandras Del Tango) [iTunes only**]
F&V and Teddy Champagne opening funny moment

9 Serenade Vals (Serenade Viennese Waltz)
Musica Poesia (Ballroom Classics Four)
http://www.casa-musica-shop.de/
(change to English – click on union jack)
Search for "serenade" / 4th result in list:
"Serenade / Milena Giannini / 02:05 / VW / 58 / Instrumental € 1.49"
[NB: This is the only way Ive found you can get it without getting the CD (I borrowed it from KDS – my dancing place]
F&V Tango vals solo number (this is a VW, not an "tango" tango number)

10 Libertango (Astor Piazzolla)
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Libertango/d...7866449&sr=1-1

11 El Choclo (Angel Villoldo)
Tango Siempre (Tangled)
http://www.amazon.co.uk/El-choclo-Ch...7866525&sr=1-1
F dancing with baddie, Vincent and ladies - F=rag doll!

12 Que falta que me haces (Armando Pontier)
Osvaldo Pugliese (Antologia [?3])
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Qu%C3%A9-Fal...7866600&sr=1-2
(when F is on balcony and baddie goes to flirt with her)

13 Jealousy (Jacob Gade)
Tango Argentino (album same name) [instrumental version – most others are singing versions]
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Jealousy-LP-...7866652&sr=1-1
3 couples and table dancing

14 Temptation (Tom Waits)
Diana Krall (The Girl in the Other Room)
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Temptation/d...7866731&sr=1-1

15 El Mismo Pais (Ros Stephen/Tango Siempre)
Tango Siempre (Malandras Del Tango) **
(Tricia plus 2 blokes, dancing with scarf – exert now and another later)

16 Bordoneo (Jonathan Taylor/Tango Siempre)
Tango Siempre (Malandras Del Tango) **
(Teddy solo with radiogram/cigar)

17 Chin-Chin (Astor Piazzolla)
Astor Piazzolla (Suite Punta Del Este)
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Chin/dp/B001...866789&sr=1-12
NB many different versions. This is the cheapest version
17&18 merge into each other – finale of first half

18 Viejos Aires (Fernando Egozcue)
Ensamble Nuevo Tango (500 motivaciones)
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Viejos-aires...7866877&sr=1-1
Finale of half number – this is where Flav reappears with Gato and V [one of my favs after the solos]

Interval

19 Fuga y Misterio (Astor Piazzolla) (reprise)
[same as above (1)]
Opening bit of 2nd half (entrance of all the dancers)

20 Sway (Quien sera?) (Pablo Beltran Ruiz)
Dean Martin (101 Hits) – I couldn’t find a Spanish version that had authentic sounding music (I already had version like this on a dance cd)

Group CCC number with scarves

21 Cafetin de Buenos Aires (Mariano Mores)
Tango Siempre (Malandras Del Tango) **

22 Diablo Fast (Jonathan Taylor/Tango Siempre)
Tango Siempre (Tangents)
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Diablo-Fast/...7867067&sr=1-1
[the fight scene]

23 Gallo Ciego (Agustin Bardi)

Orquesta Color Tango De Roberto Alvarez (Tango a Pugliese Con estilo para bailar)
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Desde-el-alm...867322&sr=1-28

30 La Cumparsita (Gerardo Matos Rodríguez)
Pablo Cortes et son orchestra (Les plus beaux paso-doble et tango)
http://www.amazon.co.uk/La-Cumparsit...7867639&sr=1-1
(most accurate version I could find but not totally the MT version) F&V final AT solo

31 Chango (Jonathan Taylor/Tango Siempre)
Tango Siempre (Barrio Tango)
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Chango/dp/B0...7867942&sr=1-1
Start of finale (where F used to play violin)

32 Milonga Sentimental (Sebastián Piana)
Canteca de Macao (Cachai)
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Milonga-Sent...7868098&sr=1-1

I should apologise for the report, I get giddy when i'm tired, and I was on a tango high!

I didn't go to the stage door, but a colleague went and said V&F were lovely (did we expect anything else?)

AC! I cannot say strongly enough that you should get tickets! it was fabulous! (a work colleague was going, and was not looking forward to it, but i think we have a convert! she raved about the show all morning!)

It's actually Saturday I go back (I hadn't realised that it was after midnight when I posted...)

There were audible gasps when Flavia took of the coat for the rumbango, and when she came out in the black dress for the final AT, my personal preference is the black dress!

Ah I see, I knew you were going on Saturday but I thought maybe you had caved and treated yourself to another little goodie

I love the black dress too.... and the white dress, but I think I love the red one because it looks so much just like a nice summer dress and could imagine wearing it on a nice day out and about

Ive finally got round to listening to the Radio Ulster interview yesterday. Very sweet.... and I was giggling at the comment by the radio presenter asking Vincent if he ever got a word in edgeways.

An interview with both of them there together, but as usual Flav gets the biggest speaking part...

Afternoon all

Weather STILL gorgeous and set to continue over the weekend! YAY - I'll maybe even attempt to tidy the garden as I have no excuses left. No work, no rain and I even bought a new pair of gardening gloves!

The MT cast and crew will be enjoying Belfast in the sun I'm sure - It must make some difference being on tour and the weather is nice. It will make it much more enjoyable for them all.

Off out tonight for family dinner as it is my mums birthday Have a lovely weekend everyone.

Belfast is basking in sunshine, it is glorious. Vincent and Flavia are definitely seeing the city at its best.

Hope the exams are going well Hannah and that you haven't too many left to do. I think the torch is passing through somewhere close to me too.... I had originally thought it was only passing through Edinburgh but it is also coming to Glasgow. I think I will be working at the time though which is typical!
