she was really a big star back in the early 2000's with that long running no.1 hit in the u.s. called foolish. her debut album was also a smash too. i think she was just famous for being in songs with ja rule and ja rule made her career happen for a little bit. then did background vocals for some jennifer lopez songs in the remixes. after 2004 or 2005 she just disappeared. that's when things fell apart for ja rule and the same did for ashanti.

Yeah Ashanti's career was to connected with Ja Rule and when he went down under, so did she. Her last album kinda flopped and it's a shame because she was like the top R&b female in the early 00's.

I think she could back with a good album. I know she is working on one.

ciara stopped being on top like after 2nd album. the same thing went for ashanti and both had the exact number of hits but ashanti had a few more.

if people were to say remember these two ladies (ashanti and ciara) they'd be like huh? on top of their minds they would know who today's artists are like lady gaga, katy perry, adele, rihanna. and of course they would remember beyonce and britney spears because they were the top artists of the last decade.

ye it all fell apart when her label was under investigation for money laundering and after that the label and artists feel apart and not to many people in the industry wanted to do business with them

She put out a great new song a while ago called Never Too Far Away from a soundtrack and is working on her new stuff

She's acting these days, She was in John tucker must die/Coack carter.

Not sure what her recent roles are though

Ah yes, Rain on Me was epic with that video and everything.
Also, The Way That I Love You from The Declaration album was great too even if the video was a bit too crazy.

You're obviously talking about the UK...Ciara is still relevant, she toured a few months ago and she had a huge urban hit last year, so it's not like she's vanished. She is still talked about. And don't get fooled.Sales =/= relevance.Jackie Evancho outsold Ciara, does that make her more relevant??Ciara has flopped twice but she's not near as forgotten as Ashanti is.

Anyway, I like Ashanti. She had some good songs.'Happy', 'Foolish', 'Voodoo', 'Only U' and 'Rain On Me' were good and she's in general a cool artist.

Try this track out. It's been mentioned a couple of times above: Rain on Me. Great tune.

Ashanti is releasing her new single next year. Called 'No Good'.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O02l-uXIEQw - Here is an interview.

Her last album wasn't good IMO. I think she will come back bigger and better, I hope it is really good.

She also released the title track to DreamHouse.

Monica is still around! She has a new album out soon. Hard to believe she is only 31 or something as she seems to have been around for an age
