Martin: is it worth frankie1star trying a re-format of the hard disk? There's a OTA update for the 9200T shortly... Version after update: PGXTF 1.00.23 :: Playing Mon 12-12-2011 10:00:00 to Wed 14-12-2011 09:00:00

{It was also played out in November: Wed 16-11-2011 10:00:00 to Fri 18-11-2011 09:00:00 just before this thread started.} As Tacolneston's now post-DSO any signal strength/quality problems that may have occurred with the last update offered may be resolved?

If there is a noise comong from the disk (and we don't know if it is the disk) then a format will not help. However I guess there is nothing to lose so yes I agree it is worth trying.

Hi Martin and Dr Oliver

Thank you both, but what does that mean?

To format the disk press Menu, Select HDD Control, select Format (the password defaults to 0000); it will only take a second or two to do the format It will of course delete any recordings). As regards the OTA leave the box in standby overnight on the 12th or 13th December and it should update to the latest software,

in that case I think I have already formatted the hdd, and will try to remember to leave it in standby

I am pleased to report the OTA update has taken place, but my recording problem still exists.

I think I have found someone who will replace the hard drive for me so advice and suggestions would be much appreciated.

Use a Seagate DB35 series IDE drive.

They are hard to find as they have been out of production for a while. You need to make sure you get a model whose part number ends in ACE; one that ends in SCE will not work. If it helps I have a spare drive of the correct type; used but thoroughly tested for £19.00 including postage.

sounds good to me, how should we proceed?

Take it to bits, marvel at the engineering that went into making it then use the very powerful magnets for something useful. Be careful not to trap your skin between them, they are very powerful.
