Times have changed. Are you telling me that the Strictly faithful wouldn't watch a BBC3 spin off if it was available? I mean really? ”

The clip showed the opening party of Karen's Parsons Green studio (and as a bonus the fab Norbury studio) so it would be after Karen's exit after SCD6 2008. I was one of the Strictly viewers who never even knew about the transmissions from BBC3, but the following 5 clips appear to cover Justin's 3-month dance journey from London to compete in pro-am San Francisco.

What they could do is do a series with the wives (or perhaps partners) of servicemen serving in Afghanistan as The Choir has just done.

The problem would be finding people with the dancy skills. Most of the Celebs would have had some previous dancing training. These people then need to be available full time for several weeks

Lovely idea.

A non celeb show might bring out the type that audition for Big Brother. 'Worthy' contestants like wives and partners of servicemen is a better idea.

A day time 'how to dance' show for older housebound people who need a little excercise would be good too - presented by a rotation of Striclty dancers.

I'd like the idea of choosing our new professional by a version of strictly! If we need to replace someone, we should decide! Criteria containing dancing ability, personality, looks and choreography :P

I like the idea, but I don't think it would work if it was done over a week or something like that because when would contestants learn the dances?

what if an established dance school did this over the interenet that would be a reasonable test if enough people folled this - it could transfer to a wider medium

and maybe not so seriously what about on the radio - well it works for most sposts dosnt it?

I always liked the idea of a non-celeb Strictly but the main sticking point is availability. Your average joe works during the day, 9 to 5. They wouldn't have the free time like celebs to really get into it and if they don't put in the hours the dancing won't be up to scratch.

Great another one who thinks only beautiful people should be on the television and the minute anyone even ordinary looking appears you know they have the comedy role.

and before anyone accuses me of being jealous I definitely haven't been hit by the ugly stick.

How about having people who look normal on the tele so that we have realistic role models for the young to look up to

Beauty is something rare and unachievable for everyone.

Having a great personality, being able to learn the skill of talking so that people understand you and want to hear more from you, learning to move at least elegantly and getting fit whilst doing it.

All these are achievable skills for everyone and these are the sorts of things we should have our young aiming for, rather than wanting to be tanned ,dazzlingly white toothed ,d chested ( for women), wearing the hair of dead or poverty stricken women on their heads , with uniform noses and conforming to someone else 's idea of the perfect person is not something we should have our children wanting to do.

I was talking to my son's friends aged 20 and was horrified by the amount of pressure they felt to look "good" and again none of them had been hit by the ugly stick and yet each one wanted something they didn't have like a 6 pack or whiter teeth , or thicker hair. I don't remember this intense pressure in the past and we shouldn't burden our young with it now.

take out looks on that list and I would agree with you, but looks really should not influence peoples idea of who we want on the tele.

They could get unemployed people, but not people who are on attendance allowance or DLA cos they would get rumbled.

I think the problem would be that all of us on here would audition, tell them that we work part time in shops etc. and we have never done a dance class in our lives, then turn out to have done 10+ years of lessons secretely
