Ours is!!

If Simba is outside our bedroom door and he can hear my husband talking to me, he cries so loudly and paws, never scratches, the door. We always give in and let him in. He jumps straight onto my husband's lap, snuggles down and purrs ever so loud.

When my husband goes in the garden to have a fag, he watches him through the patio door and waits for him till he's finished, or he just cries for him.

And he cries if he can't see anyone around, like he can't be arsed to look.

What a baby! But a lovely baby.

Winnie is quite vocal, Bungle (her kitten) really isn't. We've had her for 7 months and she has probably been vocal about 20 times, if that many.

Our cat cant purr , never has . I know when he means to purr as I can feel t he vibration in his throat and he dribbles dreadfully too . !! He is not a great meiower either , a very faint little voice and only when desperate .!

One of mine is very vocal. She also purrs very loudly. If she's been out, she comes back in running through the house shouting her head off. The only time it bothers me is if it's a muffled shouting, because I know she has something in her mouth..................

I think he's learnt if meows loud enough, we will jump and give in!

Oh crikey, thanks for the tip!

Ours don't go out yet and don't think he will either.

My eldest is incredibly vocal - meows a lot. The middle one meows when she wants to play ball or when I talk to her, whilst the youngest barely meows at all but has the loudest purr in the world!

I find the more I speak to mine, the more vocal he becomes, almost like he wants to join in the conversation? Also, I find that I can make his chatter become more animated if I pretend to be more excited/interested in something that he is looking at or seems interested in...... esp something he can't get to...like a fly or bird on the other side of a window.....

Is she vocal? You bet she is?

Particularly when she wants feeding.

Oh gosh mine are both so vocal, the boy more so than the girl.

Especially at feeding times. The meows are hilarious, and then the boy purrs and growls at his plate of food! So cute!

Nope, mine never meows at all. Well actually apart from the other night when my mother accidently shut him in the garage - he followed her in. I looked twice over the house for him and could not find him at all and as it was night time, he wasn't out as the catflap is locked and I heard this faint meow and didn't even recognise it as my Oliver's! But I eventually opened the door to the garage and he was right there and ran back in, it must have been a very loud meow as we were a few rooms away and the door to the garage is a thick fire door! The only other time he meows is if he has a 'gift' for us XD But other than that he never meows, not even for food. But we can always hear him because of his bell (and its extra loud because it clangs against his ID tag - no idea how he can catch what he can...)
However, my cat purrs really loudly. I wish he would meow more though but oh well.

Woody gives a running commentary on everything he does, he never shuts up. And when I shut him out of a room he will meow, meow and meow like a toddler having a tantrum until I let him in.

Archie only "speaks" to me when he wants milk, then he gets very vocal.

Shadow (the old boy) tells me when he is hungry and gets vocal when I sneeze. He hates sneezes and always tells me off.

One of my childhood cats was very funny, because you could have a conversation with her. I said something and she replied, I said something back and got another answer etc etc. Very cute.

Since Shadow had his thyroid op he can't purr either. Like you say the vibration can be felt, that's the only way I know he is purring. I don't know if the op did this or he has just become quieter in his old age.

My mum has an elderly cat called kitty , and since moving over to Ireland she prefers the out door life with the other cats she meows all the time and you know when she has caught something as she lets out a blood curdling yowl .

I heard her last time I was over there and it scared the c**p out of me lol

my kitten is just coming up to 5mths old and it's only recently she's found her voice - its not a miaow but a short squeak - and she's learnt that squeaking gets her attention so has started doing it much more

I am trying to train mine to be more vocal. Her usual method of attracting attention is to dig her claws into my leg. One day she meowed at me, so I followed her to find out what she wanted. More and more now she asks prettily, although sometimes she can't be bothered and sits in the hall and shouts at me. I do find the angry meow funny

Ours has learnt to walk backwards on our window sill cos it's so narrow. He's found if he tries to turn around, he'll fall off. Whoops!

Sphynx has always been vocal, and actually has miaows for yes, no, treats, normal food, change litter tray and get the Light of Frustration (or the laser pointer as humans call it). Her sister, Blaze, has started getting in on the act, but hers at the moment only seem to be yes, no and the LoF. She will miaow to get your attention and then show you what she wants, though.

I can't remember where I read it, but some cats will go through a range of vocalisations and see what you get them or what your response is and remember them. It's apparently similar to a baby's cry depending on what they want.

Lola always tells you all about her adventures when she come back in. She'll look up at me and meow, I'll reply, she'll respond and so on. Other than that she only really shouts to get fed. She's terrible for drooling when she purrs.

Martha's nearly 5 months old and only squeaks to get fed. She does the wee whirrs and prrps though (Lola doesn't)She's got a loud purr for a wee thing.

My cat Yoshi can be a bit of a talker when he wants to. If I'm coming back from the shops or somewhere and I meet him outside he meows at me. Like he's ordering me to go indoors. And he'll often announce when he's home from exploring.

Other then that he is a purr machine. You only have to pick him up or give him one stroke and he'll start purring like crazy . And if you touch him once he's settled and stopped purring, he'll start up all over again.
