Good point. I like Sharon but I think she's made a mistake in terms of thinking who people at home will vote for. She said that Megan needed a good slap - well if she thought that, the audience at home are goign to think that, especially now the idea has been planted in their head. And who is going to pay good money to vote for someone who is a good singer but they find arrogant/annoying? I don't even think Megan has enough personality to split the vote like Rowetta.

I think Louis and Simon have more experience of knowing who the Uk public will pick up the phone and vote for, whereas Sharon was thinking from a manager's point of view.

I think Jonathan has the "Clay Aiken" factor (from the seconds American Idol incase anyone doesn't know) - the thing that inspires millions of women to fall at his feet drooling. He's just amazingly engaging and charismatic as a singer, as well as an amazing voice, great looks and style and a seemingly sweet personality.”

Damn I was about to post exactly the same thing - definately a star in the making...

Yay!! Zip Gypsy, long time no speak...and so nice to see so many familiar faces on this thread too. (OT, but I trust, Kurtie baby continues to exceed everyone's expectations. Judging by the size of his thread he's now at the very *least* mega star!)

G4. Well Bohemian Rapsody made me sit up and take notice, but that might be because they woke me up from my boy/girl band- induced trance! I can see them doing well. Simon and Louis know that everyone is getting a little jaded with the same young format and if this type of act wins, it'll pave the way for other shows with more diverse singing talent and will give the whole "pop idol" bug to a wider audience, thus increasing the ratings.

I've got a feeling ZG they're going to do well, despite our personal taste.. I can see them hosting big concerts in Hyde Park and major football tournaments! Yep I think Jonathan and Stelios and Co. could easily give the three tenors a run for their money! and who knows may even open more opera and classical music to a wider audience..

Have to admit that I actually find them ridiculous. When I saw them doing Bohemian Rhapsody I looked at my wife and we both burst out laughing. Suddenly they are being praised to the hilt and we're sat there totally bemused.

I honestly see them as some sort of joke band. I guess it's a thin line between being brilliant and being crap and I'm just seeing it from a different angle.

They do say Otex ear drops work a treat on congested ear wax my friend. G4 were praised to the hilt because they have enormous talent and if you see them as "some sort of joke band" let me guess who your idea of a superb band are............McFly.......or Busted perhaps or some of the other bland boy bands who are only able to lip-sync as their collective voices are not strong enough. These guys have all had professional training and it shows.

I think i know what Simon Cowell wants to model themselves with . Cowell was quoted as saying that this group (il divo) has the X-Factor:

LOL...I love this...yes, fingernails down a blackboard, fork scraping a plate...Pavarotti sings ACDC. Get my drift?

As for the Two Ronnies (oh, yes!), Morcombe and Wise etc...so right. So funny....I think the King Singers made several appearances there.

Off Topic....Hi to Lindy and that 'Ol Devil, PIV; I have a feeling that this series is going to provoke great fun in this forum. As for Rowetta....I'm just off to post in her thread....

I did!! To me THAT'S what makes a "record" (showing my age) worth buying- technical skill coupled with something that externally raises goosebumps and internally an emotional reaction. I think (know?) there's alot of people my age (mid 30s) watching the X Factor that couldn't be arsed with Pop Idol past the audition rounds. It takes a nation of millions to hold us back. Unfortunately

Typical, cliche reply I'm afraid. Goes along with the assumption that anyone who doesn't like Lord of the Rings must, therefore, be a fan of Scooby Doo movies. By the way, if you think I'm a fan of lip-syncing, read my opinions on Rachel Stevens.

Sure, these guys have had proffesional training and are very accomplished singers. I appreciate opera, and I've even been to see two (not many, I'll admit, but it does demonstrate my acceptance of said genre.)

The problem I have with this band isn't the standard of their voices, but the fact that they simply come across as plain silly in my eyes. I'd agree that they would be good fun at a dinner party or something, but they are a novelty group at best in my opinion.

If you want to see real quality accapella singing, I'd suggest an act called 'Naked Voices' who, quite frankly, would wipe the floor with G4, though you probably don't know of them, being a mere reality TV fan (with apologies for making similar assumptions to whoever it may be that I am replying).

There's a twisted part of me (oh, yes - the crooked skeleton exists) that is looking forward to G4 being in the show.

a) It will back memories of sitting in with my family on Winter Saturday nights in the 70s - watching things like the Lulu Show, The Generation Game (Bruce, of course), The Two Ronnies and Morcombe and Wise. I can feel the urge for a Frys Chocolate Cream coming on.

b) Watching them 'classicalise' songs from other genres other than Bohemian Rhapsody and being hilariously funny with it.

c) The week when they are 'stylised' to look like The Backstreet Boys

G4 are the biggest load of pants on the show.

Thanks.

Their future will probably be the making of a CD that is advertised on TV (The amazing singing voices of G4 bring you Pop Classics. Featuring Shaddap your face - cue clip of Operatic version of the Joe Dolce Classic). This will eventually end up in High Street stores in the same section as 'Music of the Pan Pipes' CDs.

I really can't make up my mind on G4. They sound lovely, and the pretty one has x-factor...

...but it all looks so painful when they sing. It kind of makes me snigger... It's that look of trying to supress pain and surprise....

G4 are still my favourites to win this. I have heard them singing an Elton John number and if that is the quality that we will be hearing from them in the live shows then they are going to be hard to beat though I will pass my own opinions on the final nine when we finally get to the live shows.

GBP will have tired of them long before Christmas. V clever, v lovely, but a little bit too posh, and for my taste, the result is strangely clinical - I felt nothing listening to them.

Hey Mank,
That reminds me of the classics that Harry Hill used to do on his TV show "Rusty Lee sings Meat Loaf, etc"
How about G4 play The Manic Street Preachers! maybe not. (deafening chorus of "Oi PIV Shuddup your face!!")

Wasn't that the show where Jimi and The Experience were supposed to do a 'nice' number and then just did what he liked?

Class.

Also....why are there no Jimis on the X Factor?

I'd love some sort of show for real musicianship talent to show through...Rock Idol.

Penny...I just love your love of G4...even though we can all disagree on them. You are commendable in your continual appreciation of the boys and with your 'give as good as you get approach'.

Loving the banter....

For me...it has to be Ace of Spades and Highway to Hell

Poor Jonathon...poor lad might break his jaw trying to pull those off....

...........ouch - that was nasty. You obviously know nothing about what we ladies like our men to look like. I wish people would stop comparing Jonathan to Clay Aitken. Jonathan is in a different league in terms of voice, personality and most definitely looks. Jonathan is utterly delectable (and I just love men who can cry).

As has been posted already in this thread - G4 = Il Divo, but not nearly as accomplished. G4's unique selling point is that they are different. Sorry but they are no.

Il Divo's album is released on 1st November so G4 are going to be pipped at the post. I really don't think there is room for two opera style boy bands in the charts, especially as Il Divo have four heartthrobs and G4 only one. (BTW Il Divo is Simon's band)
